The class had been told to meet out by the old high school camping area: an ideal locale that gave lots of cabins to hide behind or snipe from on top, as well as trees and collapsing piles of logs.

Steve and Tony had also modified the area with fences, ropes to climb up and swing from, plexiglass barriers to hide behind...it was a lot. They'd learned from last summer's class that the people on this island took paintball unbelievably seriously.

"Welcome to our first class," Steve said, grinning. "Grab yourself a suit, some goggles, and a weapon. In future classes you can bring your own suit, if you have one, but please use our weapons to make sure we're all starting out with the same quality."

"The suits are a must unless you really want to go avant-garde with your fashion choices," Tony added. "Now, this class is simple. It's a battle Royale to see who lasts the longest without getting hit."

"As the summer goes on, we'll add additional barriers, or put you into small teams," Steve said, "but for today, it's every being for themselves. Today we're using paint guns. Other classes we might use balloons, or cans of paint, or something that Tony invents to cause additional mayhem--" Steve grinned. He loved when Tony came up with something to cause more mayhem. Ahem. Learning opportunities. "--but right now, we'll keep it classic."

"Let's get to it!" No time like now to get shot with paint, right?"

Get the lay of the land--both the course and your opponents--as the teachers talked. Note that they are both also in paintball suits because really, why teach paintball if you don't get to play?

Steve was definitely scoping out the course and the competition, remembering people from last summer and sorting them into threat categories.

You know, like normal people do.

Anakin's priorities were slightly skewed.

"Ugh," Lana muttered when she saw the suit. "If I wanted to dress like this, I could have stayed on Dromund Kaas."

The disappointment on Rosa's face about not getting to use your own weapons was palpable and evident...

....especially because of the massive modded paintball gun in her hands that was clearly just going to go to waste now, ugh!

Irene had not signed herself up for this -- of course not, have you lost your bloody minds -- but she was gamely here to try anyway.

And very grateful that she'd made the correct assumptions and shown up in a pair of trousers and a lofty ponytail. That suit didn't seem like it'd be especially practical over one of her little pencil skirts.

If only he was more familiar with guns...paintswords probably wouldn't have worked very well, huh? Oh, well, he would learn!

Anakin grabbed his weapon, hated what the hat was doing to his hair, and took off running for one of the cabins where there would plenty of options for hiding and shooting.

Steve wasn't much for sitting still and waiting for people come near him, so off he ran, trusting on his speed and agility to get him through.

They hadn't said no powers, soooo literally no one was going to be able to hit Kitty. However, the paintballs she fired were definitely solid as she ran around shooting people.

What, paintball was fun.

Lana had spent the last decade and a half in a warzone. She knew what she was doing.

Fighting with this damn outfit and a jammed gun was what she was doing.

Sneakiness, for better or worse, had always been Irene's forte. So she immediately went on the defensive, finding a little nook between a cabin and a tree that she figured would provide cover enough that she could outlast at least a few of these competitors.

Stark did not, unfortunately, have any powers that would offer any advantage in paintball. Not that he'd cheat against anyone but Anakin. Probably.

He headed for higher ground to start with but that whole blind on the right side thing was probably going to be an issue today.

Goose had never played paintball before so it was a little different to using his normal blasters and it showed.

Even though he remembered to late that he could simply hit his badge and use his ranger powers to avoid getting hit.

Eliot was extremely I’ll prepared for this class. But when magic broke in the midst of a duel to the death he’d made it work, so when it was a battle to the splattered-with-paint, he at least already knew if a potentially viable strategy.

He hid up a tree.

“Ugh. Guns are so gauche.”

Alara’s particular abilities were unfortunately not useful for paintball but she got further than she thought she would up until she ended up breaking her paintball gun and getting paint on herself.

Have fun, make it messy--both in threads and on characters! The course is very moddable but the rule is that if you've been shot with paint, you're out!
