"Morning, everyone," said Amaya, greeting the class with her usual nod and an almost apologetic smirk as she gestured toward their recently MIA instructor beside her. "As you can see, Detective Diaz has joined us again for the last class, which means we're going to be talking about one of the things that she's particularly good at, and that's bows."

And if anyone thought Rosa seemed cold and approachable before, it would seem that she definitely leveled up on that while she was gone, arms folded in front of her while she just let Amaya take the charge on most of the talking.

Shot through the heart. )

"That just about covers the basics," Amaya grinned faintly. "If there's any questions, though, let's have 'em, and then we're going to get to work. First, before we get to the fun part, I'm going to teach you all how to actually string a bow, because a bow's not much good if you've gone and snapped a string or worn it down and can't replace it with a new one. Then it's off to Detective Diaz, where she'll go over nocking, aiming, and shooting at the targets we've got set up over there, and I'm sure, by the end of the class, if you're not an expert already, you will be!

"Or," she added, chuckling faintly, "at the very least, since we're in the Danger Shop, if you're not an expert by the end of class, at least you'll not have lost an eye."

Today’s class was not being held in the Home Ec room. Everyone had been handwavily informed to meet at Jeff, God of Biscuits today instead.

When Stark first arrived he was greeted with a cheerful “you’re still not dead!” from the staff who had taken to saying this every time he entered the bakery since his return to the island. Every time.

When the rest of the class arrived there were no spoken assurances of continued life but there were bakery cases full of delicious treats.

“Sometimes,” Stark said, holding up a lava cake, “a tiny cake is not a cupcake. And that’s fine. And sometimes you have a dessert because it has an amusing name. Sometimes you have one because it reminds you of another time. Sometimes those are happier times, sometimes they are times you were covered in fake lava and had to spend most of your evening scrubbing your mask.” That may have been just Stark though. “Today’s featured item at J,GoB is lava cakes. Very chocolatey. I recommend them. Enough that I may be sending several to Anakin later. Several. But since it’s our last day, for now, you can order whatever you’d like. 1 item each. You can order more if you want but 1 each is paid for. Will be paid for. Enjoy. And then tell us why you chose what you did.”

"How did they come back?" Magnus whined, hiding behind Cara like she could protect him from the return of the spiders. Because she could, but the real question was would she?

Cara sighed, and refrained from pointing out the spiders weren't real. That's how you knew it was True Friendship. "Sometimes the best way to handle animals is killing everything with fire."

"That's the best plan with spiders," Magnus agrees readily. "Sometimes an ax. Or maybe a big animated robot!"

"We didn't program in a robot." Of course, they hadn't programmed in the spiders either, especially not such big ones...

A cat sized tarantula slowly walked on by, causing Magnus to help and hide behind Cara even more. "Killitkillitkillit!"

Cara sighed again, and stabbed the tarantula with an agiel. It exploded. Messily.

Because Cara was a good friend.

"So, uh. We've got some weapons scattered around the tavern,to use. There might be a flamethrower too, I'm not sure," Magnus said now that he was safe from that slow moving rancho.

"So that's the class, kill it with fire."
