While, yes, there was indeed a fully stocked kitchen available to use as a classroom, it did not have enough of the particular equipment Thor intended to use for his classes. Where "particular equipment" meant "microwaves".

Because yeah, this was basically a class about how to cook stuff with microwaves. So the Danger Shop was set up to more or less resemble a cooking classroom, except for how the workspace in front of each student was dominated by a microwave.

"Greetings, all!" Thor said, beaming at the students as they sat down. "And welcome to Basic Cookery! Now, I can hardly be called a master of the culinary arts, but during my time here in Midgard I have picked up a thing or two," even if the equipment in question was somewhat... primitive. "The 'microwave' in particular has been an extremely helpful food preparation device," somewhere, Hannibal was twitching and didn't know why, "so that is what I have chosen to focus on during our next few weeks together."

"But first, before we begin, I should introduce myself. I am Thor, son of Odin, and it is my pleasure to be your instructor for this summer workshop session. Now, if you would share with us your name, the class you will be entering in the fall, and your favourite food, starting with you," he said, pointing at someone at random.

"Now then," Thor said, once introductions were finished. "Let's get started. Our task today is relatively simple, microwave popped corn!" he handed out a package to each student. "Now, many of you may be familiar with the microwave controls, but for those of you who are not..." he ran through a quick tutorial of what the various buttons did. "You might notice that there is a 'popcorn' button. It is imperative that you do not trust it. This button is deceitful and will result in something beyond saving," he informed them ominously. "Set your microwave to three minutes, and then press start. Make sure you pay attention as the popcorn cooks, listening carefully. Even if there is still time remaining, press the stop button if you hear a pause of longer than three seconds between popping noises. Keeping it in beyond this point risks burning the popcorn, a most unenjoyable result."

So... go forth and pop that popcorn! Hopefully don't burn it! And enjoy a tasty snack once you are done!

Anakin met the class out in front of the Portalocity office with a cup of coffee and a slightly evil smile on his face.

You should have a bad feeling about that smile, class.

"Welcome to Try Not to Die," he said. "I'm Master Skywalker. This year, instead of exploring this planet, you will be exploring places in my own galaxy."

You lucky, lucky things. "Our first stop is the capital planet of Coruscant," he said. "While it's not the physical center of the galaxy, in every way that counts, it is. Space coordinates have even been shifted so that Coruscant is 0,0,0 and al other areas are based off of it. It has standard air and gravity, and it is home to 1 trillion official permanent members, with various beings coming and going constantly, as well as members of populations who don't especially wished to be counted, so the unofficial number of residents is probably closer to 3 trillion. It is the home to the Jedi Temple--at least in my time, that changes depending on the person from my galaxy you're talking to--the Senate and most major government offices. It is also almost entirely covered in buildings: Coruscant is divided into quadrants and zones, and then each zone has sectors depending on how high into the air it is. The further down you go, the less light you get and the shadier--literally and figuratively--the neighborhood becomes."

Anakin gave them all long looks. "Do not go into the lower levels. There are places that even I couldn't find you in." He pointed to Jessica. "This is Jessica Drew, the TA for the session. She also won't save you if you do something stupid." He slid his hands into the sleeves of his Jedi robes and nodded, satisfied that they understood his degree of seriousness. "I'm going to send you into the more populated, tourist-friendly areas. Follow the instructions, don't get hurt, and I'll see you at the checkpoint at the end."

With that, he stepped out of the way of the portal.

Bond had notified his class to meet him in the Danger Shop, where a driving course with a rather sporty looking car parked nearby awaited them.

"Good morning, class," Bond greeted them, once they'd finished arriving. "And welcome to Driver's Ed, the subject of the class should be obvious from the name. Now, as a few points of order, I will be teaching the class to drive vehicles from this particular time period or earlier, and I'll also be teaching manual as opposed to automatic as it's easier to go from the one to the other."

"Now, we'll start with introductions, name, any experience you have with driving, if the vehicles were you come from differ significantly to those here. Then we'll go over how exactly a car works and some of the basics of how to drive, before those of you who feel up to it try taking a spin."

Bon pointed to a random student. "You first."
