While, yes, there was indeed a fully stocked kitchen available to use as a classroom, it did not have enough of the particular equipment Thor intended to use for his classes. Where "particular equipment" meant "microwaves".

Because yeah, this was basically a class about how to cook stuff with microwaves. So the Danger Shop was set up to more or less resemble a cooking classroom, except for how the workspace in front of each student was dominated by a microwave.

"Greetings, all!" Thor said, beaming at the students as they sat down. "And welcome to Basic Cookery! Now, I can hardly be called a master of the culinary arts, but during my time here in Midgard I have picked up a thing or two," even if the equipment in question was somewhat... primitive. "The 'microwave' in particular has been an extremely helpful food preparation device," somewhere, Hannibal was twitching and didn't know why, "so that is what I have chosen to focus on during our next few weeks together."

"But first, before we begin, I should introduce myself. I am Thor, son of Odin, and it is my pleasure to be your instructor for this summer workshop session. Now, if you would share with us your name, the class you will be entering in the fall, and your favourite food, starting with you," he said, pointing at someone at random.

"Now then," Thor said, once introductions were finished. "Let's get started. Our task today is relatively simple, microwave popped corn!" he handed out a package to each student. "Now, many of you may be familiar with the microwave controls, but for those of you who are not..." he ran through a quick tutorial of what the various buttons did. "You might notice that there is a 'popcorn' button. It is imperative that you do not trust it. This button is deceitful and will result in something beyond saving," he informed them ominously. "Set your microwave to three minutes, and then press start. Make sure you pay attention as the popcorn cooks, listening carefully. Even if there is still time remaining, press the stop button if you hear a pause of longer than three seconds between popping noises. Keeping it in beyond this point risks burning the popcorn, a most unenjoyable result."

So... go forth and pop that popcorn! Hopefully don't burn it! And enjoy a tasty snack once you are done!

Name, class, favourite food.

"Hi, I'm Alex Aaron, I'm, uh, I'm a senior--how did that happen?--and I like pizza. And Pop-Tarts." The Pop-Tarts were important.

"Um, I'm Kira, and I'm a sophomore," she said, trying not to stare at Thor and all those muscles. "And my favorite food is probably pizza. And Japanese food, for comfort. But mostly pizza."

"My name is Ichabod Crane and I'm a senior," he said. "As for favourite food, I say roast pheasant."

Why was he in this class?

"I'm Elsa," she reported, looking perhaps slightly in awe, because, really, she was learning how to cook from Thor. Having Loki as an acquaintance she occasionally spoke with was remarkable on its own, and now she was learning cooking from the god of thunder? "I'm a junior, and I have a bit of a sweet tooth and quite the fondness for chocolate."

One of the few things she had in common with her sister, actually.

"I'm Nathan Byrn and I don't know which class I'm going to be." He was going to be a junior but he'd never picked up on he nuances of the education system and he couldn't read anything either so. Sorry, Professor. "My favourite food is chocolate."

It was one of those rare treats that he didn't discriminate against. Chocolate was chocolate.

"I'm Kaylin Neya and a freshman, even though I am, clearly, not a man at all," Kaylin said. "My favorite food is pretty much anything I can afford to eat, though I appreciate a nice stew, especially if it has good meat and not the gristly stuff."

Kira might not have been a gourmet chef, but she could manage a bag of popcorn for Mr. Hot Teacher. Only a few pieces got burned and the rest were mmmm.

Alex could do popcorn! He didn't pay the best of attention to the popping, but he rescued it before anything burned. Mmm popcorn.

Ichabod had seen the odd little cupboards called microwaves in the kitchen. Perhaps this particular class might at least be useful during his stay here. When he returned home - and he didn't want to think about the fact that he didn't have a clue how to find his way back - it would be useless.

Anyway, he placed the bag inside the microwave, closed the door and followed the instructions given. Then began the minor explosions inside, which made him jump.

They hadn't had a microwave back home but he did remember a microwave being in Gabriel's home. They never used it but he recalled easily enough how to put something in and press a button.

Hopefully he didn't burn anything.

Kayin's eyes were huge. She was still adjusting to having unlimited water at her fingertips. This stuff was way beyond her comprehension.

He's munching on a bag of ~~fingerwiggle~~ buttery popcorn, but is definitely available if you need to chat!

... I'm going to bed. Should be around for a few hours before I head off to work in the evening though.
