Try Not to Die [Thursday, May 8, 2014]
Anakin met the class out in front of the Portalocity office with a cup of coffee and a slightly evil smile on his face.
You should have a bad feeling about that smile, class.
"Welcome to Try Not to Die," he said. "I'm Master Skywalker. This year, instead of exploring this planet, you will be exploring places in my own galaxy."
You lucky, lucky things. "Our first stop is the capital planet of Coruscant," he said. "While it's not the physical center of the galaxy, in every way that counts, it is. Space coordinates have even been shifted so that Coruscant is 0,0,0 and al other areas are based off of it. It has standard air and gravity, and it is home to 1 trillion official permanent members, with various beings coming and going constantly, as well as members of populations who don't especially wished to be counted, so the unofficial number of residents is probably closer to 3 trillion. It is the home to the Jedi Temple--at least in my time, that changes depending on the person from my galaxy you're talking to--the Senate and most major government offices. It is also almost entirely covered in buildings: Coruscant is divided into quadrants and zones, and then each zone has sectors depending on how high into the air it is. The further down you go, the less light you get and the shadier--literally and figuratively--the neighborhood becomes."
Anakin gave them all long looks. "Do not go into the lower levels. There are places that even I couldn't find you in." He pointed to Jessica. "This is Jessica Drew, the TA for the session. She also won't save you if you do something stupid." He slid his hands into the sleeves of his Jedi robes and nodded, satisfied that they understood his degree of seriousness. "I'm going to send you into the more populated, tourist-friendly areas. Follow the instructions, don't get hurt, and I'll see you at the checkpoint at the end."
With that, he stepped out of the way of the portal.

Re: Listen to the lecture [5/7]
Which was kind of sad, really, but she was going to take comfort that this class was exactly what she'd thought it was going to be. Which was why she'd signed up for it in the first place.
She sort of hated that these were the decisions the island was forcing her to make.
Re: Listen to the lecture [5/7]
If there was even so much of a hint of anthropology or cow-tipping aliens Barry was dropping the class.
God damn probes.

Re: Listen to the lecture [5/7]
Well. At least Edward had come back to himself some after yesterday, but--
What?
Re: Listen to the lecture [5/7]
It also sounded dangerous, but that wasn't exactly a point in the negative.
Road Block!
With three trillion beings from more systems than even he could name and a planet-wide city that literally never slept, he didn't want to lose a student on his very first day of class. The paperwork would be endless.
So the directions for getting to the road block involved negotiating with a local cab drive and a very fast drive through Galactic City's ridiculous traffic to arrive at Dex's Diner in CoCo City:
For your roadblock, you have to eat three bowls of apple slug stew and one serving of beast yeast, which will first have to be chased around the table.
Mmmm, good eats.
Re: Road Block!
The yeast was kinda weird though.
Re: Road Block!
Karina managed to choke down the bowls of stew while determinedly not thinking about what the hell was in it. (And wondering why they had to have three bowls of it. Ugh.)
It was the beast yeast that tripped her up. She didn't want to eat something she had to chase which meant that it took a good, long while for her to get her ass in gear to put forth the effort.
She promised herself she could go throw up after class.
Re: Road Block!
And yes he did use a probe first to see if it was safe to eat.
No way he was getting the shits because of a class.
Re: Road Block!
Re: Road Block!
Eating was something he could do, and he was no stranger to wrangling animals - but he was not getting any of that time back that he'd lost.
Re: Road Block!
Re: Road Block!
The food in front of him didn't look that appetizing but he'd dealt with worse. He closed his eyes and ate quickly, trying not to think about it.

Detour: Fix Up or Kiss Up
In Kiss Up, you take a cab to the Galactic Senate, where you will serve as a page to the junior Representative from Naboo, Jar Jar Binks. Anakin was cruel. You must deliver ten messages around the massive building to ten different Senators, from ten different systems and species. Once you have completed this task, Jar-Jar will hand you the clue to tell you where to find Anakin. You must take another cab to get there.
Re: Detour: Fix Up or Kiss Up
It went much better than the beast yeast issue, all things considered, though it didn't do much to fix up her time, which she knew had to be pretty bad.
But she almost-sort of enjoyed getting to deliver messages to Senators. Karina found the existence of them to be weirdly normal, even if they were all aliens.
Re: Detour: Fix Up or Kiss Up
breakfix things when she was stressed, so delivering messages it was.Luckily she managed to find a directory (and someone to help her read it) so she could figure out the best order to deliver things in.

Check in
His hood was up, just in case, and he was enjoying being back home for the first time in years, even if it wasn't exactly his home these days.
Re: Check in
"Well," she said, "that was about what I expected, really."
Which was both terrible and nice. Her feelings were pretty conflicted on this.
