Today the Danger Shop resembled the school's shooting range, and as each student entered Bond handed them eye and ear protection as well as a stack of notes.

Bond has more guns than the ones in his sleeves. )

Today, Sholeh was playing a very frustrating game of hide and seek. She knew someone was in the library. She kept saying the oddest things, complaining about a horse. Some kind of magical horse. Sholeh couldn't quite tell what was going on, but there was definitely complaining. And a magical horse.

But no matter where Sholeh looked, there was no one else in the library. At least, no one talking about putting her magical horse on a boat.

After a lot of hunting, she determined that voice seemed to be coming from behind the door of Special Collections. Once she figured that out, she stopped looking and stayed behind the desk. She wasn't going in there, noooo thank you.

Pinkie Pie was practically vibrating at the front of the class, today.

No. That wasn't the right term. What was it again? That thing that means -- literally. Yes, that's it.

Pinkie Pie was literally vibrating at the front of class, today.

It was as creepy as it sounds.

It also meant that Derek was trying to keep a safe distance from her. But the joke was on him, there was no safe distance. "Today we're going to learn to make pie."

Pinkie couldn't contain herself. She sproinged up into the air with a squee of delight not even remotely unlike the noise of a squeaky toy being devoured by a rottweiler. "I LOVE PIE!" she shrieked, then glanced over at Derek and made an obvious attempt to settle back down.

Thus, the vibrating.

Derek rubbed his forehead and regretted all of his life choices for the third time that day. It was a thing he did, you see. "Just make the pies," he said with a sigh. "We have apples."

And no, he wouldn't help any of you make the pies. ASK THE PONY WHO DOESN'T HAVE HANDS.

Hey, the pony that doesn't have hands is a skilled baker. Don't ask how that works. You really do not want to know.

Class met in the Danger Shop today. It was set up to look like a forest. McCoy was chewing on a stalk of grass when the class came in. What a Georgian loser.

"Aren't you glad to get a break from the cold?" It was autumn in the fake moddable forest. Good time for a harvest.

"You might find yourself without food or water for a time. You're going to need to gather, in that case." He handed out a hand-waved sheet listing several edible roots, berries, and leaves.

"The good news is, even if you find something rotten, grubs are a good source of protein. I'm well aware your gag reflex might react, but they can keep you going when you need it most. If you find something fresh and have the time, cook it. Some things are poisonous only when raw. You'll lose some of the water, though."

Also some of the ick. Had anyone ever had raw beets? Yuck.

"Break up into pairs and find at least one source of fresh water, and one meal. You eat some grubs, you get fruit snacks at the end. Anyone touches the nightlock, they get an F." The nightlock stand-in was not actually deadly, but letting them think it was would keep them on their toes.
