Armed and Dangerous [Tuesday, Period Four]

Today the Danger Shop resembled the school's shooting range, and as each student entered Bond handed them eye and ear protection as well as a stack of notes.

One the class had finished arriving, he began "Good afternoon. Today we'll be looking at handgun shooting, more specifically the Walther P99, a German-designed semi-automatic pistol," Bond said, holding a pistol up for the class to see, before disassembling it and explaining each of the various components to the class. "Now, I specified that you'd be learning about handguns today because there are a number of differences between using handguns and other firearms like rifles and shotguns, such as stance or recoil, but one thing that remains the same across all types of guns, and something which you will keep paramount in any session involving firearms unless you'd prefer to spend them sitting in the corridor outside, is gun safety, which is while we'll be going over now. So if you'll refer to the handouts I gave you as you came in."

Bond went on to explain the safety guidelines, expanding on the why as well was the what, finishing with "And to reiterate, anyone who choses to ignore these rules will be spending the remainder of the period outside the Danger Shop.

"But enough of that for now, if you would kindly pay attention to me once more as I demonstrate using a handgun," he said, taking the time to demonstrate the correct stance and grip, before firing into a target. "Now for those of you who feel confident in trying it yourselves, you may spend the rest of class doing so."

For all that Zee liked to consider herself a shit-disturber, she paid very close attention to the lecture about safety, making sure to read and reread the handouts.

Look, the cool thing about weapons were that they were dangerous. She didn't want to miss out on learning more about them.

Flick's dislike of weapons was still there but he figured there wasn't any harm in practicing shooting a gun. So, he picked up a weapon, made sure that he wasn't going to shoot himself in the foot and gave the gun a few tries.

The recoil made his still healing wounds ache but he could have done much worse.

The first recoil sent him stumbling back, but Mordin wasn't half a bad shot, after his arms stopped shaking. This was fun!

Before firing a shot, Zee practiced her stance and her grip. It was a lot like using a sword or a knife; you had to make sure your body was ready before you even picked up the weapon.

Once she felt comfortable, she started to practice shooting. She was good at clustering her shots, even if they didn't always cluster where she wanted them to go.

Cade was, probably not surprisingly, really, really good at this part. He hit the target each time, bulls-eyeing most of them.
