The casino was lacking tables today...and chairs...there were some lovely cushions and beanbags though, and some even lovelier drapes and hangings, as well as a large whiteboard. In fact, on the whole it didn't look very casino-ish at all.

"Good afternoon," Bond greeted them. "So far we've been looking at hiding your emotions in bluffing, but there are often times when you want a person to pick up on a particular mood or idea, which brings us to today's game. You've all been given an envelope with a word or phrase written within it, you will take it in turns to illustrate that word on the whiteboard, without using words or numbers, or saying anything, while your classmates guess as to the meaning of your drawing. If your word is guessed you win. The sooner your drawing is guessed, and the more classmates guess correctly the more chips you get, people who make correct guesses will also win chips."

"So, who wants to go first?"

Today, class was meeting in the Danger Shop, which was set up to look much like a gym, complete with practice mats spread about the floor. The reason for the Shop and not just meeting in the gym?

The large selection of melee weapons arranged on a table at the front. Also probably the variety of orcs, trolls, and golems that currently stood unmoving on most of the mats.

"The possibility of engaging enemies in battle arises in many quests," Thor began. "Although not all," he admitted. "But those quests are not the focus of today's class! Today, I'd like to talk to you about weaponry used to engage enemies in close combat." He removed Mjolnir from where it usually rested on his hip, prompting one of the rock-golems to come to life and start lumbering towards him. A few well-placed blows dispatched the creature, who fell to the ground in a tumble of rock. "As you can see," he smiled, "the warhammer is the weapon I favor." Of course, unlike most, he could also use it as a ranged weapon, but so not the point. "Even if the technology of your world differs from what we're focusing on here today, having a basic understanding of how to utilize a weapon in a fight may be useful."

He then went on to describe the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of close-combat weapons, as well as how to select one and the correct way to hold and swing each weapon. "When you pick up a weapon, the Danger Shop will automatically adjust the size and balance of your weapon so as to be ideal for your body type," he explained. Kids, be glad Thor had Tony Stark on speed dial. Be glad Thor knew what speed dial was.

"Now, choose an opponent," he said, gesturing at the various moddable enemies, "and go forth and defeat them in combat!"

There was no pink pony in front of the class today. There was only a surly guy in a leather jacket and too tight pants.

And a fluff ball.

Awww yeah, kids.

"There was a--" Derek made a face over even having to say the words. "--party emergency in Ponyville."

Balloons had been mentioned.

"Today you're all working together to give the dog a bath." It sounded easy, right? "He doesn't like them. Work out a system."

Yeah, that was some quality teachin' there. Aren't you all glad you're in this class?

Ghanima was sitting on her desk as the students arrived, her text placed neatly in her lap. Exactly like any other day of class.

The moment the last student was seated, she flipped her book open. "Good morning, class, and welcome. Today with the Third P'ien," she said, holding up the book. "'Attack by Stratagem.' Or as one of my former co-teachers once called it, 'Avoiding Attack by Stratagem from my side of the fence: Make Love, Not War and Drink Sake and Keep Calm ♥.'" Some days Ghanima missed Shunsui very, very much. "Or, in the words of Tzu, 'Hence to fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.'"

"Sun Tzu also said that 'He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight.' And, of course, there's the phrase everyone knows, but rarely do they know the source. 'If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.' Know thy enemy and know thyself."

"So, how do you formulate a plan of attack, if are forced to fight? Resorting immediately to violent means is not always the best option. 'Thus the highest form of generalship is to balk the enemy's plans;'" Ghanima recited, watching all of them carefully. "'The next best is to prevent the junction of the enemy's forces; the next in order is to attack the enemy's army in the field; and the worst policy of all is to besiege walled cities.' So speaks Tzu. I'm curious as to how you feel this reflects the every day world, and if you saw this applied at any time over our last 'special' Fandom weekend."

Once again, Sholeh was a girl on a mission. Mr. Constantine had given her an assignment (with the promise to teach her how to order books for the library!!!) to find out where their science books were deficient so they could order more.

The only trouble? Sholeh didn't know enough about science to be a good judge of that. She could tell that their alchemy section could use some beefing up and the xenobiology section was a little on the thin side, but other than that, she was at a loss.

But she wasn't worried! Having a willingness to improvise and big sister who was great at baking meant that Sholeh already had a plan. That plan involved a sign, a giant platter of cupcakes, and a pen and paper.

Have suggestions for where the library can improve its offerings? Make a suggestion and take a cupcake!
Science suggestions get you TWO cupcakes!

Now to wait for the good ideas to come pouring in!

"Today, we are smashing watermelons!"

Electroclash just wasn't going to greet the students like a normal person anymore. They were in the Danger Shop, once again, and there were tables with watermelons on them, and... piles and piles of rubber bands. Yes. Oh, and cameras set up to record each table's goings-on. She should probably say something about that, right?

"Watermelons are hard on the outside but squishy on the inside, and while it's pretty bloody satisfying to just smash them to pieces with a hammer or some shit like that, we are going the slow route today. You are going to pair up, take a watermelon, and start putting the rubber bands around it. It'll seem pointless fr a while, like all things in life, but if you keep putting more and more rubber bands around the fruit, there'll be more and more pressure on it, and eventually it will explode all over you."

Which Electroclash thought would be hilarious all on its own, but she gestured towards the cameras. "And at the end of the class, we'll watch your fruit explosions in glorious slow motion with the help of these high speed cameras. Trust me, it makes it all worth it because it is fucking hilarious. Now, get to pairing up and slowly breaking things."

"Hey, guys," Jess greeted the class. "Last week I gave you the meta for Treasure Island, and hopefully you got the reading done. If not, you have a little bit of a reprieve, because we're going to watch a movie version of it. But don't think you're getting off easy. You still have to write a book report for next week, and I want at least two comparisons of the book versus the movie in there. And no, 'the movie had puppets' isn't one of the comparisons you can have unless you want points off."

Because of course you were watching the version with puppets. It'd be silly to thik you weren't.
