When Bond's class arrived at the Danger Shop, they would have found themselves on a balcony overlooking a crowded marketplace, one long enough that they could all take a place at the railing against which Bond was currently leaning.

"Good afternoon," he greeted them. "The thing with learning to blend in, is that you just can't just be given a list of dos and don'ts which are universally applicable. While there are certain things which may hold true, such as the fact there is nothing as conspicuous as someone trying too hard to be inconspicuous, every situation is different, and the only way to learn how to blend in across multiple situations is to learn to read them and thus to figure out what behaviour stands out and which blends in. So today we're going to be doing some simple observation exercises. I want you to watch the people below us as they go about their business, and note down anything which seems out of place or which draws your eye. I also want you to figure out why it did so. After a while we'll observe a different group of people and do the same thing."

For the record, April still hated that this thing took place during first period. She could be asleep right now, guys. Granted, she intended to go back to sleep immediately after class ended, so an hour-long break probably wasn't going to ruin too much.

However. Today's class was meeting in the Danger Shop, which was... loud. Very loud, in fact, because it was set up to look like a Six Flags, complete with long lines, large families, junk food, and... ninety-five degree weather without a water ride to be found.

Sorry, guys.

"This place is supposed to be fun," April announced when the whole class had arrived. "There's rides and stuff. People love it." In the background, a Danger Shop simulated NPC who looked about nine or ten threw up on his mother's shoes. "That kid loved it." Yes, thank you, April. "You guys can go do whatever you want. Go on rides or whatever. Everyone's gonna meet up here in an hour and figure out who had the best time, but if you're sunburned and exhausted we're all gonna laugh at you."

And... apparently that was it, because she was immediately stalking off toward a place that served food. With tables. And air-conditioning.

It was possible that spending the entire hour in a place with tables and air-conditioning was the only way you wouldn't wind up sunburned and exhausted in this here simulation, so that was April's advice to you all.

Right after the bell, a rolled up map hanging in front of the board unrolled, revealing Yakko. Try not to think about the physics there. The map, as it turned out, was of the United States.

"We're going to start our trip through the world right here at what a lot of us call home. The US of A! Where we make movies about superheroes starring English people and our cartoons are drawn in Korea! Where our products are made in China and tech support for those products goes to India! Where imported Mexican colas are better than our regular colas that we invented! Where most of the families who live here today came from other continents within the last few hundred years!"

"Yes, when you're talking about America, you're talking about the entire world. And that's why it's a perfect place to start," Yakko said. "And also last night I forgot today was Thursday so I had to write something up that I could just wing without doing any research!"

Well, this week, Evan had come to work at the library prepared. He wasn't wearing shorts today, instead just wearing a comfortable pair of jeans. So take that, opinionated periodicals.

Once he was finished re-shelving the books that had accumulated near his desk over the course of the morning, he made his way to the pet section, intent on reading a book on puppy care until there was more work for him to do.

The book had other plans.

If anybody needed anything today, they'd find Evan gently lobbing a tennis ball (even he wasn't sure where it had come from) amongst the stacks so that the book he'd selected could run and fetch it.

"Good day, class!" Ronan said cheerily, from the start of the room; though he'd sent around a message instructing people to come to the Danger Shop, it still looked like a classroom, at least for now. "So, we've all decided we want to go somewhere -- which means we need to start to get ready to go. There are two things you'll want to think about before actually heading out: where you plan on going and what you plan on taking."

Today, we'll be focusing on... )Third, for the love of God pack deodorant."

Not that Ronan had experience with unwashed co-hostel-visitors or anything.

"And that's it -- fill your bags. We'll take a look at them when you're done."

When the students entered into class this week they would find their teacher sitting serenely behind his desk. Behind him on the blackboard was written a single word in large block letters.

“OPPRESSION”

“Last week we had discussed various causes you felt strong enough to die for,” Eric began as the students took their seats. “As in many cases all of these causes have a singular root.”

A classroom pointer floated up in the air and then with a loud THWACK hit the blackboard right underneath the aforementioned word.

“There are several sorts of oppression,” Eric continued as he stood up and began to walk around the room. “Cultural. Institutionalized. Systematic. Cultural oppression typically occurs through socially supported mistreatment and exploitation of a group or category of people by another group or category of people. Institutional oppression occurs when established laws, customs, and practices systematically reflect and produce inequities based on one’s membership in targeted social identity groups. And finally there is systematic oppression. Here the term oppression refer to the subordination of a given group or social category by unjust use of force, authority, or societal norms in order to achieve their desired effects.”

Erik paused to let out a dramatic sigh as he turned and faced his students.

“Human history is wrought with such examples. I’m sure those of you from other galaxies and dimensions can provide even more,” he continued. “Today’s assignment is a short essay of no more than 100 words giving an example of such oppression. You will then share them with the rest of the class.”

He paused again... Mostly for dramatic effect.

“Begin.”
