For class today, the students were asked to meet in the Danger Shop; upon entering, they would find themselves in what appeared to be a seedy bar, a hodge-podge of various spaceports, truck stops, taverns, and hovels. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. You would never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy...

...well, actually, you could. Samus and Deadpool had to keep things relatively clean, considering this was a school and everything. There's was definitely a strong miasma in the air, though, that was part sketchiness, part body odor, and part threat of one wrong move leading to someone's demise, but it was okay. Deadpool shot first.

"Welcome," said Samus, waving her gun arm vaguely at the scene around them, "to just about every questionable bar ever, or, as mercenaries and bounty hunters are wont to see it, your networking office. If you're lucky, you might be able to have a channel of contacts in a less unsavory method...work with the rich and the privileged, and they have their own set of networks that you'll be tied into, but the majority of people in the for hire business wind up here, on the edges of society, looking for a job that'll get some cash in their pocket and not get them killed. Plus, you can always grab a beer while you're here, too."

"Or an appletini," offered Deadpool, with a lift of the glass he had already procured and took a little sip from.

Samus just moved on. "So today we want you to schmooze. We want you to feel out a place like this and try to get an idea of how to spot people who are potential clients, people who will probably just kill you, and people that will basically just waste your time. Deadpool and I will keep an eye on things to make sure nothing gets out of hand, but treat this as though your livelihood depends on it. One day, it might."

Kennedy had left emails and written notes for all the students instructing them to meet in the Danger Shop per usual-- and that they should prepare to get soaked and better not wear anything that couldn't handle water.

Why would be evident as soon as they arrived and found themselves on the pebbled bank of a broad river; a number of rafts, big enough to hold about two people each, lay on the riverbank not too far away. There were some poles on the riverbank too, but not enough for all the rafts; you could say the same for thir coils of rope. Life vests, on the other hand, were plentiful in case anyone needed one. Given the way the river was fairly calm in some spots but eddied and swirled pretty heavily in others, particularly near the clusters of rocks that broke the water's surface here and there, the vests might be a good idea, eyesearingly orange as they were.

"No 'I' in team, big ol' cliché, blah blah actually kind of true, right?" asked Kennedy, who'd kicked off her boots and was standing ankle deep in the water with her hands in her pockets. "Congratulations, you get to live that today. If you're gonna get things done as a group, you need to be on the same page. Maybe you're not gonna agree all the time? Hell, maybe under normal circumstances you actually can't stand each other. In which case you might just have to suck it up and deal until you get out of trouble."

Not that she'd know from experience or anything. Ahem.

"Case in point: getting from this side of the river to that side, two to a raft" She paused and gestured toward several students. "...except for you guys. You get three. Have fun with that. Either the whole group makes it across, or you have to start over... and watch out for the fish. They don't bite, but they are kinda aggressive with the leaping." She waved a hand toward the rafts. "Good luck."

"Some people have moral or religious problems with the concept of spying," Dojima began once people were seated. "I am not one of them."

"But interestingly enough, America's own CIA published a "Bible Lesson on Spying" back in 1978. Why do you think they did this? What effect was it meant to have? Did it succeed? Why or why not? And do you think something like this would be useful for you?"

"I want you to pick a partner and express your views - as you AND as your cover identity you created last week, and see if they can guess which one is which."

The class met in the Danger Shop today, which had been set up to look like a pleasant little swamp, with a set of bleachers rising up out of the water for the students to sit on. Pinkie stood in a flat bottomed fan boat off to one side, looking far too excited.

"Today's an extra special game for you all," she said. "Alligator wrestling!"

A tiny alligator with enormous purple eyes popped his head up over the edge of the boat, blinked unevenly, flashed a toothless grin at the students, then dove over the side into the water.

"You're going to be wrestling my very bestest pet baby alligator, Gummy! I'll be one of the judges, and I hope Cassidy with help me out, too, and of course, Gummy gets to be the representation of the almighty hand of the RNG deciding vote! So hop to it!"

The oranges were still there. Luckily Jamie and his dupes had found a use for them.

Which is why part of study hall was now a batting cage using oranges instead of baseball.

Hey no one said it was a good use of the oranges.

Study Hall is open. Sorry for the stickyness.

Not dirty.

[No OCD as I'm trying to see if the world will end.]
