Today's class was meeting in the Danger Shop. There were various brightly colored helmets and jumpsuits laid out on a table and Fraser himself was waiting near the controls of the simulation.

"Good morning," he greeted, giving them all a smile. "Today, we're going to do something that might give some of you some very much needed stress relief after this past weekend. Today, we're going to be participating in a demolition derby."

Fraser punched some buttons and brought up the simulation. They were now in a giant stadium. The ground was covered in dirt and mud and there were all kinds of dirty, banged up cars lying around. "This activity is pretty simple. You're all going to pick a car, hop in and then ram each other. When your car can no longer go? You're out. The winner is the person whose car is still running last. Sounds easy right? Before you go anywhere, please put on a jumpsuit and a helmet and you must buckle your safety belt before starting the car. No exceptions. After those are all done, crank the car on and start ramming. Think of this as a giant version of bumper cars."

With that done, Fraser stepped out of the way and let the students get demolishing.

It was the danger shoppe for the students again today. Yes, handwavily mentioned, so you can all deal. Deeeeeeal with it.

Deadpool was twirling a very real and very sharp sword when the students came in. Like the safe, mature and responsible adult that he was. “So, ya’ll saw that crappy movie with the vampires that we need to stop before they take over the Marvel Universe--but that’s clearly not enough to give you an idea of what not to do with a sword.”

A beat.

“Other than stab yourself.”

"Or stab someone else accidentally," Ghanima continued, cheerfully. "You only want to stab the people you dislike."

But Tom Cruise threw his sword! Tom Cruise! Dude knows Xenu! )

"And anyone caught with the sword between their teeth or licking the blade gets detention for poor hygiene and abuse of a weapon," Ghanima reminded them. "Have fun."

Gabrielle, let's be fair, didn't look like someone who'd been washed up on a beach more than once in fairly recent hours by the time she made it into the library, a tiny bit later than she usually did. Yes, her hair was still damp, but she'd showered and changed clothes (into an outfit that was identical to her usual one, although the top might have shrunk a little). It wasn't the washing up on a beach in Greece and then, shortly afterward, the one in Fandom that was noticeable; the return to her customary good cheer, on the other hand, was.

Someone had made up with her best friend, yes. It had involved falling off a cliff and then being pulled out of a river, and a lot of singing and bizarrely staged recreations of recent events, but it had happened. That was the important part.

. . . so yes, it had been an eventful visit home, but that was always the case, and if it was one of the most bizarre ones she'd ever had -- she was learning to take those very well in stride, too.

She was sitting at the desk and reading through stacks of books on musical theater and tarot card symbolism, but still taking it in stride.

"This week," Steve said, "we'll be sauteing and pan frying. These two are very similar, and some people even use them interchangeably. Others argue that the amount of oil used, or something like that, makes them different. You can make up your own minds; I won't tell you how to think. Both methods involve cooking food in a shallow pan in a smallish amount of oil. For a saute, a distinctive 'flipping' motion is traditionally used." Steve took hold of the handle of a panful of sliced mushrooms and demonstrated this motion, while handwavily explaining how to do it. Oooh. Ahhh. "If you don't feel up to this, please do not attempt it, as you'll make a giant mess you'll just have to clean up. Instead, you can just stir with a spatula and I won't tell anyone. For pan frying, you typically cook something on one side, then turn it over and cook it on the other.

"So, now you're going to saute mushrooms--after you slice them up, of course--and pan-fry some pork chops. Make sure your pork is done all the way through before you eat it, or you could get food poisoning, and I'd hate to explain how I let that happen to your parents. Pork is done at 160 degrees Fahrenheit. I've provided thermometers at your duty stations. Please don't hesitate to use them."

"We're going for a more practical lesson today," Kerrigan spoke. She was standing in the Danger Shop again; this time, the world around them looked like a giant maze. The only thing that jumped out was the rack of suits standing by the side. "There are two applications of telekinesis that are interesting to explore live. Barriers and propulsion. The ability to create a barrier is rare among Terrans back home - it takes a great deal of power."

She, as recently displayed, had to make absolutely no effort at all to do it.

"The Protoss, however, have perfected it, especially when creating a mechanical force field isn't possible. Their barriers can protect their entire bodies. Otherwise, they do what it says on the tin: it's a concentrated effort of psionic power projected around them. It's sustaining the barrier that takes up most of the power, which is why they can only last for so long, especially when someone is shooting at you."

"As for propulsion, we have animals back home that have evolved the ability to use psionics to move." Well, force-evolved. Thank you, Zerg genetic engineering. "They can only produce a small amount of psionic power, but it's all telekinetic. That means they can use the power to push their relatively light bodies up into the air, and move them in whatever direction. However, they don't exactly achieve high speeds - if they did, they'd run out of power fairly quickly."

She glanced over the class. "Some of you might already have powers like this," she said, "Some of you don't. Those of you who don't-- I'd like you to take one of these suits. They can grant you a barrier for a brief period, but you'll find it a drain on your concentration. They also simulate the kind of psionic power you need to briefly propel yourself, be it forward or upward, with the same drain." She gave the entrances to the rest of the maze, which were all around them, an idle gesture. "Pick a partner, then pick an entrance. You'll find that some corners have turrets in them which will stun you if they hit you. Somewhere at the end of these paths is the exit. Find it, and you can leave. If you don't, you'll be able to leave at the end of the class.

"Get on with it."

Anakin had been in a rather terrible mood after Leia's visit (since he was pretty sure he knew how her trip home to intercept Death Star plans would end), so that mood was not at all improved when he took a sip from his mug of coffee and turned a vibrant shade of green.

The bitchy look on his face was an interesting counterpoint to the topic he chose to discuss today. "Forgiveness," he said, "is considered one of the seven virtues--the more positive side of the deadly sins. But as difficult as it is to resist the temptation of giving into vices, it can be equally difficult to be virtuous, especially when you are the wronged party. Pair up and think of an act someone could commit that you would consider to be unforgiveable."

Like hypothetically torturing your daughter and blowing up her planet. HYPOTHETICALLY.
