It was Friday, and Buffy was back in the library.

She took a seat at the desk, and after about twenty seconds, said, "I wanna be back on the cruise."

It was gonna be a long day.

As students filtered into the Danger Room, they'd find themselves faced with a dark space, save for some candle light. The air smelled of soothing incense and the floor was littered with soft pillows and mats. The typical locker room doors were off to one side, masked from obvious view by a decorative screen to keep the serene atmosphere of the room intact.

And then there was the large man sitting cross-legged in the back of the room. "Today we're meditating. Get your uniform and take a seat. Sit cross-legged with your hands resting on your knees, palms open toward the sky. Falling asleep means you're doing it too well. I'll leave the radio on for background." Ronon always meditated too well. Lucky for everyone there was no Teyla here to hit them with sticks.

After taking a nice nap, err, meditating for a period, Ronon was ready to focus on movies. He'd come across something very interesting during the week while he was recovering from the spa the cruise. That thing would be silent film.

And so Ronon stood at his podium and hit play to display a very low-class PowerPoint presentation on the large theater screen behind him. Instrumental music accompanied the presentation wherein students were shown a silent film and told to speak to each other via notecards. No oral communication would be permitted. And those who couldn't help talking would be glared at.

While students mingled for discussion, questions flashed on the screen: Q1: How do you like the music? Q2: What did you do over break?

[1. The film is embedded in the presentation, I only linked it again in case the presentation doesn't work for some reason.
2. Click 'Start Presentation' to see the slideshow!
3. NO TALKING.
4. There are plenty of notecards and markers for all.
5. Sorry to people who can't read/write, miming and gestures are encouraged.]

Coming into the classroom today, the students would find that Minsc had things set up for a slide show.

Oh, this was going to be interesting...

"Good morning, class!" Minsc greeted them brightly. "As you can see, I am no longer a bear, which is very good, although my time as a bear was certainly interesting. And I really could not have thought of a better example of unintentional transformation than that, because, I assure you, I did not wake up that morning intending to be a bear!"

"But, as you can see, I am back to myself and whole. I had the luck of changing entirely back, not a stitch of bear fur on me! But I must warn you! Not all transformations will turn out so smoothly! Usually, this will happen due to error on the spell or the enchantment or perhaps the persons involved. Today, we are going to talk about the kinds of half-transformations that can occur and how you can best avoid them. Let's have a look!"

Cut for Really Awful Drawings and very slight NWSishness )

After the slide-show was over, Minsc preened proudly and turned on the lights again. "Now," he said, "I have for you all these little cards. On each one is half an animal. I'd like you to go and put together some interesting combinations of transformations and then write down the combination. Then write a little bit about whether this is a COOL conversation, or a NOT COOL conversion. Remember our model for COOL and NOT COOL: Cool is being a mermaid with pretty hair and a fin or a centaur with great powerful warhorse legs. Not cool is being a man stuck with a chicken for a body."

"Ask any questions you would like about the topic, and have at it!"

There were sandwiches and chips available for lunch that day.

"Welcome back from vacation," Nathan said. "Last time we had some great ideas about a spirit week and a multi-cultural festival. Let's see if we can narrow down some dates and details so we can make those happen."

Each of the lab stations in the science lab had at it a large box, wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper and tied with a bow.

"Ladies and gentlemen!" Sokka announced from the front of the room. "I have something VERY SPECIAL for you all today!"

He held up a sealed envelope. "In this envelope is something that EVERYONE ought to know how to make. It's one of the most important chemical compounds in this planet's history, and for those of you, like myself, who come from a world without modern conveniences, it is INDISPENSABLE for winning arguments."

"The ingredients are SULFUR, a yellow rock you can find in the ground, especially around hot springs, CHARCOAL, which is pretty easy to make but hard to make well, and SALTPETER, which you can find in white crystals on old dungheaps. Take them in exactly the right proportions, grind them up together very carefully using my father's patented method, and you get a little thing we like to call 'Hakoda's Special Number One Powder'."

He lit the envelope on fire and dropped it into an empty garbage can, where it exploded.

"Ta-da! Each lab station has a box with all your ingredients and a grinding mill. Have fun!"
