doubleohblonde: (Bond is watching...something)

The inside of the Danger Shop was set up to look like a large lake with a number of small boats bobbing on the water. Bond stood on a pier extending out into the lake, double-checking a pile of life jackets.

"Today you'll be sailing," he began once the class had arrived. "Dinghies to be precise, as they're small and easy enough to handle, especially in conditions like this, but can still provide something of a challenge for those of you with some experience."

Climbing into a nearby dinghy, Bond went on to demonstrate the proper sailing technique, explaining the ins and outs to the students. After returning to the pier he continued with "There are both two and one man dinghies here, so you can work either by yourself or with a partner, depending on how confident you feel. Do, however, remember to put on a life jacket before you get into the boat."

[ooc: wait for ocd up.]

After last week's food fight, Ned had decided to go with something a little more traditional this time around.

"Hey guys," he greeted once everyone had filed in. "Welcome back, thanks for coming. I hope you all had fun with the food fight and, if you got messy, I hope you got cleaned up afterward. Thanks for playing and all. Um, today we're gonna concentrate on meals on the go. We're all students so I'm sure we all can't sit down to extravagantly cooked meals every night."

Ned gestured to a table of moddable ingredients and supplies. "I went through and picked up things for sandwiches, Hamburger Helper, rice with various gravies, soups, fish sticks, hot dogs, hamburgers, and microwaveable pizzas. What I want you guys to do today is find the quickest thing that tastes the best."

Ned gestured to the table again. "So, let's see how fast we can find something really good."

Murdock had handwavily told his students to meet him at the end of the causeway this morning. He was grinning from ear to ear and leaning against a black and grey van with a red stripe.

"Hey guys! Ready for some fun? I figured since we're so close by, we'd check out the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. It's got lots of things on the history of flight, space travel and even some of the aircraft we discussed in class."

"And today," he waggled his eyebrows, "is even better becuase they're doing a lecture on the Vought-Sikorsky XR-45, which is America's first military helicopter." Yes, he was practically bouncing over that.

"Oh, and later, they're doing another event, the Annual John H. Glenn Lecture. The Apollo 8 Astronauts will be there."

He slid the door to the van open. "So hop in and grab a seat! Who wants shotgun?"

(ooc: for anyone interested, there is a live webcast of the Apollo 8 discussion starting up at 7:30pm EST. The event itself begins at 8pm. I thought I'd share for all!)

The library was silent Thursday morning before Sam got there, and even after he arrived, unlocking the doors and getting all the lights on, it was still fairly quiet. The only real noise came after Sam got settled when, every once in a while, he coughed, and then grumbled to himself.

"Today, we are going to be speaking of genre," Miss Bennet said. "Literary genre, that is. There are other varieties, but they are hardly relevant to a literature class."

On Genre )

"Lastly," she said, "I would like to ask you all to meet me next week, not here, but in the library. I will hope that, by now, all of you can at least locate it successfully." The smile that accompanied this was very playful, indeed.

The donuts did not appreciate the way the blonde girl bounced the whole way back to the high school from J,GoB. Did she have no appreciation for their sprinkles? For the way they were smushing together, smearing frosting on their neighbors? Honestly.

There were the usual treats and coffee waiting for everyone, although Turtle was watching how much she ate because she knew there's be treats at the newspaper meeting, too.

"Okay, guys! We're looking good for our tents; today, let's work a little on getting some more put together and start thinking about packaging. The next step, I think, would be to get the spells on them, so, Dor, do you think you can have that by next week?"

"Mostly today, though, I think we could just have some fun." She hopped off the desk, moving to the blackboard, and wrote in big letters the word MONOPOLY. "Now," she said, "as entrepreneurs, you should know this word. Monopoly means that you pretty much have a hold on everything; no one else can compete with you because you're that powerful. Governments say this is bad; I say it's only bad if you're being a dictator with your monopoly." She shrugged. "It's up in the air, I guess. I mean, let's say that Turtle & Canary was the only place to get something on the island. Clothes, for example. If Turtle & Canary was the only place that sold clothes, then I would have a monopoly on it. However, since there's also Pixie Dust, I don't have a monopoly on it, and we're in competition...friendly, free-market economy competition...with each other, and people can choose if they want to buy clothes at Turtle & Canary, or go to Pixie Dust and pay way too much."

"What it also is," she continued, "is a game, so we're going to play some of that. Of course, Monopoly is a game that lasts forever and a day, so we're just going to play until the end of the hour and whoever gets closest to a monopoly will win!"
