When considering the possible things that he could do when he opened the library to keep himself from getting bored, Cal considered three different things. The first was the obligatory studying for school. The second consisted of studying for the play. The third, which would be more time consuming and therefor what he would likely pursue, was to track down some titles he remembered from Dr. Luce's office, especially vivid in his head after telling Amber about him on Friday, and see if they existed in the library.

However, once he did, in fact, open, and saw the residual results of all that research done over the weekend because of that island, Cal realized that cleaning up after the fact was going to keep him plenty busy enough.

[[ also? My computer is jacked up and marking everything as October, apparently. XD ]]

The students should have handwavily received notice to meet in the Danger Room Shop this afternoon. However, if they hadn't had time to check their e-mail, they might find the yawning and exhausted-looking Sam to be more lenient than they might otherwise expect. A sign had also been posted on the classroom door.

"Hello," she greeted the students as they filed in. "We'll still be having class, but I wanted to have the protection of this room's safety protocols for the practical part of today's lesson. You'll also probably a very large number of fire extinguishers and fire-proof padding." They'd probably also notice a large number of high-powered squirt guns, some red food coloring, a bunch of crash-testesque dummies and a number of tasers. "While I wasn't here this weekend to experience the latest bout of weirdness, there's something about Fandom that requires you to think fast on your feet. Here's one way to improvise a weapon that might work. If it doesn't work, I would like you to tell me why not, using these formulas." She wrote several formulas for electric conductivity, resistance, volume, and ways to determine trajectories.

"Oh, and if you point either the stun guns or the electrified water pistols at each other, I will assign detention," she said in a voice that brooked no argument. "Even water pistols will cause a problem, since you'll then be working with electricity. That's what the dummies are for."

In lieu of Nathan's usual office hours, he instead made sure that everything was set up for the Student Council Elections. Like any proper election, he set up a boundary so that there was a safe zone for voting, and a place where last minute campaigning could happen. There was also a table with flyers in case anyone wanted to read their candidates' positions.

He also posted the rules:

ELECTION RULES:

1. You may only vote within your class
2. Freshmen vote for one candidate, all others vote for two
3. No campaigning by the voting box

Nathan debated adding something about requiring voters to bring him coffee, but he did actually believe in fair elections.

All that was left was one other sign:

VOTE NOW!

[ooc: OCD is up! OOCly the elections will close at 9am Eastern, tomorrow (Sept 23) ICly they are only going on today, Sept 22.]

A rather harried Abby Irene was at the front of the class, setting up some video equipment. Most specifically, she was making sure that the television and DVD player were hooked up properly.

"Good morning, class," she greeted them as they made their way in.

"My apologies for today, but as I spent most of the last week as a dog," and one joke about bitches and she would not be held accountable, for goodness sake, "we'll be watching a short film on alchemy and I'll ask you to look over this article on a rather famous female alchemist for homework."

When the students arrived in class today, they'd find several possibly familiar-looking reprints of some paintings tacked up around the room, and a Lily waiting for everyone to show before speaking.

"Hi, guys, Hope those of you who spent any part of the weekend in the clinic are feeling better, or are at least on enough pain meds to not know the difference. That was a joke," she said quickly. "Drugs are bad." Really.

and on that PSA... )

When the students entered the Danger Shop, they found themselves standing on the side of a deserted highway at night time.

Welcome to Lone Pine Highway )
