Anemone was uncommonly cheerful as she opened up the library, large plate of cookies balanced on one-hand as she tried to juggle Gulliver and the keys to the door with the other.

The half of the cookies were quickly slid inside the door to Special Collections, half were left outside Dr. Jones' office, and, well, a few made their way into Anemone's lunch.

Because really, who didn't like cookies?

Anakin stood a little stiffly in front of the class. The lightsaber battle with Vader had taken something out of him.

"Today we talk about envy," he said quietly. "There's always something that someone else seems to have that we want: clothing, grades, family, love, looks, acclaim...their achievements remind us of something we don't think we have enough of." He smiled wryly. "To some, apparently, our island..."

He began pacing as he warmed to his subject. "A wise man once said that envy is the art of counting the other person's blessings instead of your own. An entire industry has sprung up and flourished exploiting the idea that we envy those who have achieved fame." Anakin made a face. "With the equally charming dark side that we'll take joy in watching their failures."

He crossed his arms over his chest. "So today we'll be gossip mongers. Come up with a story about one of the people in this class, in the school, on the island, or on Nemesis Island. It doesn't have to be true. It just has to be something that would get people's attention. Then pass it on. We'll see the ramifications of envy for ourselves."

He was kind of counting on the students choosing to start rumors about people they didn't like. He knew human nature that way.

"Good day, class," Lulu began. "I thought today we'd go for something a little more difficult, so we're going to try cooking fettucine alfredo."

Lulu demonstrated the dish first, taking the students through cooking the pasta -- "The most popular way to cook it is known as 'al dente'; al dente pasta is still a little bit firm." -- and then making the sauce right on top of the pasta. "Some people make the sauce separately and then add the pasta to the finished product, but I find that doing it this way lends something to the final product. It also means that you can make it in only the one pot -- leave your pasta in the colander while it's drained, and then start the sauce in the pasta pot."

With the final demonstration, Lulu waved the students to their stations. "Pair up," she said, "and get to work."

At the end of class, she told the students, before they left, "Next week, we're going to try something a little different. I'd like each of you to bring in one ingredient. It doesn't matter what it is. Just bring in one ingredient; it can be anything at all that you like."
