Elliot looked like she was rather glad she wouldn't have to do a lot of talking this class period.

"Midterm projects," she said simply. "I hope you all enjoyed your breaks more than I did mine, and spent tons and tons of time on this so I won't have to give you a bad grade."

She gestured to a bin on her desk. "Your choices are to either just turn in the paper about your experiment's design or, for extra credit, spend this class period working on doing the experiment. (I know some of them won't fit into the hour, but you can assemble supplies or whatever.) Remember, if you want these are for the science fair in December."

"Next week, we're studying the biosphere."

Lorne sits on the classroom stage. "First I want to thank everyone for such a great performance you did for the assembly. It was truly a thing of beauty. So much so that I made sure copies were sent to your relatives. At least the ones I could track down."

After the screams and looks of horror passed, Lorne continued oblivious to his students' looks of woe.

"Today kids? We're talking about the ballad. Now a balad can be different things. It can be about love. It can be a story of a poor moutaineer who could barely keep his family fed. It can be about a convoy of trucks or even about the Green Berets."

"Your assignment is to sing a ballad. Make it moving and personal if you can."

"Next week? Your assignment is to write a song of your own on whatever topic you want. Be ready to perform it for everyone."

[ooc: Wait for OCD is up! If you want your parent or guardian to get a copy of your characters peformance? Feel free to do so. If no? Then feel free to do that as well. If you want to yell at Lorne for sending out the packages? He'll give you a drink and a pat on the head. ]

After being woken up by last night's dream, Isabel never went back to sleep. When she opened the library, there was an extremely large cup of coffee in her hand.

Aly was having a staring contest with three of the tiny trolls when the class arrived.  They had their clubs raised but hadn't, yet, attacked.  She stroked the beaded necklace at her throat, looking amused, and then consciously turned her attention to the class.  The trolls grunted at each other a few times before forming a huddle.  They looked like football players trying to call a play without a quarterback in charge.

"Morning all," Aly said with a grin.  "I hope you had a good break and an enjoyable Halloween.  Today we're going to take a cue from Halloween and practice dressing up for a role."  She gestured towards the back of the classroom where there were clothes of all varieties and sorts, makeups, brushes, wigs, skull caps, props, pretty much anything that could be used to costume or disguise a person.

"The general goal when choosing a disguise is to be unnoticeable in the company you're going to be keeping.  Whether it's a Court ball or a back alley den, you want to fit into the place without comment or question.  If that means using makeup to roughen your skin, a wig to disguise an obvious hair color - or dye for a longer term mission, or simply different clothing to appear a diplomat, thief, or simple, everyday politician, then that's what you're going to want to do."

"Today, your job is to dress up - use the makeup, wigs, clothing - as someone other than who you are.  Next week, we'll talk about how to put together the rest of your cover, how to move, how to enter situations, how to be convincing in the role.  But for today, just put together a disguise for yourself.  Help each other figure out who you are and why you're dressing and making yourself up the way to are, and at the end of the class, I'd like everyone to give a short presentation on who you are and where you're going dressed like that.  And I don't want to see anyone dress up like a 'student' unless it's something very, very different from your everyday student wear."

[OOC: OCD coming up is up!  And do feel free to mod the costumes, makeup, and props.  Be creative!  Also, there's an unexpected visitor to the class...]

As the students worked their way into the classroom they would find the usual spread of fruits, breads and cheeses along with tea and hot cider. When everyone was in their seats, Wilson pushed away from the front of the desk, a pile of papers in his hand.

“Good afternoon. I want to start off class with handing out information regarding our upcoming field trip to Las Vegas. Here you will find a list of room assignments as well as our travel times. Remember please that we leave on Friday, return on Sunday and if you receive a detention in one of your other classes you will not be allowed to go.”

Once he had the sheets out to everybody, Wilson walked back down to the front of the room and hopped up onto the desk.

Das Schnitzel was still in charge of the cafeteria but somehow the Chef escaped from the freezer and was now patrolling the cafeteria with "Ginger" and "Mr. Howell" searching for natives. Das Schnitzel was spending the day clucking to herself under her breath.

Call her Skipper and you'll be headed towards a three hour tour of...PAIN!

"Thank you all for being prompt," Thursday said. They weren't alone in the room. Professor Cale and 6 rather odd-looking characters were standing off to one side. "Professor Cale will be joining us for supervisory reasons, and I'd like to introduce you to some associates of mine."

The first was a gentlemen who looked like he'd come straight from a safari. "This is Commander Trafford Bradshaw." Bradshaw nodded to them all cheerily.

Next was a handsome man who looked straight out of a bodice ripper. "This is Vernham Deane. You may know him from Daphne Farquitt's romance novel The Squire of High Potternews." Vernham bowed and managed to look each girl in the room in the eye as he was introduced.

Following on was a woman who looked right at home behind the bar in a Victorian tavern. "Miss Abbey Potterson from Charles Dickens' Our Mutual Friend." Abbey smiled at them all, but looked ready to tell them off if they stepped out of line.

Then there was a young, fresh-faced man dressed in the uniform of the Russian Army circa 1812. "Petya Rostov from Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace." He nodded cordially at them all and seemed pleased to be here and not off being shot at.

A rather short, but anthropomorphised hedgehog was next, wearing clothes and a little apron. "Mrs Tiggy-Winkle from Beatrix Potter's The Tale of Mrs Tiggy-Winkle." Mrs Tiggy-Winkle gave a nervous little wave.

"Finally," Thursday gestured to the final man with dark hair. "This is Gomez from The Lost World by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

They work for Jurisfiction, the policing agency that handles matters inside fiction. Today we'll be going to the Great Library, our headquarters, and then into Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll where you'll be able to wander around Wonderland and interact with some of the characters.

Please make sure that you collect a pencil and notebook from the desk up here before you go anywhere. Keep it on yourself at all times.

I'll ask that three of you go with each agent. Two with myself and Professor Cale. You'll have to hold hands and hang on to your agent firmly. Don't let go once they start reading. The trip will be over in a few seconds. You might feel some slight tugging, but otherwise it's a perfectly safe and easy trip."

[OOC: Wait for OCD please. The link to the actual field trip will be up shortly. Have at it.]

Basic Acting, 11/7

Daisy seemed a bit preoccupied when the students entered the classroom that day. "As you can all see on the schedule, next week we'll be starting into some of the physical techniques of acting, and this week your choices for your final scene projects are due. We were going to do some improv in class today, but I figured I'd give all of you the choice. You can either do the improv assignment, which is to present a scene in which only your feet, back, or hands are visible to the audience, or you can get together into your groups and talk about your final projects. If you don't have a group or a project yet, might I suggest the latter?

"As soon as you let me know your group and project handwaving is fine as always, you're free to leave. Next week, stage combat! So wear something you can really move around in."

[ooc: sorry for the uninspired class this week. But I wanted to give some IC room for people to actually get together into groups and such if you want. As always, handwaving of the assignment is fine, just PLEASE let me know if that's what you're doing. OCD is going up.]

"Good morning," said V, folding his hands behind his back as students filed in. "Today is a class to which I have been looking forward for some time. Every crimefighter needs to know, specifically, what tools are at their disposal."

He rounded on the class. "Do any of you have a specific weapon you prefer? Or do you rely on wits, or your own strength? Couple this with the clothing you designed some time back. Do they coordinate? What is the reasoning behind each tool?"

He began to pace. "Furthermore, there are the tools used not in battle, but planning. Books. Maps. Technology, I suppose. What do you use to track a criminal, to succeed in the least amount of time?"

He paused, and quirked his head at the class. "This, dear class, is the lead into your final project, which will be worked upon for the remainder of the term. Please pair up. Don't automatically choose your best friend. This person will be your ally for the rest of the semester. They will be your partner, your backup - your other half, as far as this class is concerned. Today your goal is to take your various tools and resources, and see where you are lacking and where you are overdone. What can each of you bring to the partnership, and where do you need to improve?"

He clasped his hands in front of himself. "Simply form an alliance with another person in class, and bring your thoughts on crime-solving together. All right?"

Evie was bouncing as she waited for the rest of the Club to show up. The field trip to the Alexandria Archaeology Museum had already been delayed once, but now they had a chance to see some *new* artifacts, well, as new as they got, while Dr. Jackson worked on the Albatross site permit.

Yay!

Bridge heads over to the library with the essentials (coffee and laptop) and unlocks it right on time. He would've been early, but he'd realised halfway there that he was still wearing pyjama pants, and had to go back his room to fix that.
