"Lounge singing is an important form of entertainment. It's where cheesy singers go to die over the course of forty years," GOB said as soon as everyone was in Caritas. "The great thing about lounge singing is that it doesn't matter what piece of crap music you pick up or what genre it is - rock, rap, country, polka - all you have to do is give it a certain bit of smarm charm and you've got yourself a lounge hit."

"A good lounge performance requires three things: first, a slightly hacky piano player. The drummer from the Zombie Band will be playing piano for us. Second, you need a conversational tone. Talk to the people in the audience between lines in the song. Maybe joke and laugh a little. Show as much charm as you can, even if it is greasy. Third, you need a drink in whatever hand you're not holding the microphone in. Getting sloshed helps with the charm thing."

"After today, you'll all be prepared to sing in crap restaurants that think they're better than they are, wedding receptions, and airports. Let's have some fun."

[OOC: Going up now before sleep for I am awake and stuff. Even though I may not sound it. Students get one free drink in the sign up thread. The bar is closed aside from that. No second helpings.]

The labcoats were by the door and Abby was fairly bouncing up at the front of the computer lab. "Did you guys ever have free swim in elementary school? It was usually when there was some free time or when the teacher was bored and everyone just got to go play in the pool for an hour."

"Today is Internet Free Swim. You guys get to spend time having fun and seeing what the internet has to offer in entertainment. I'm going to point some cool things that I like, but feel free to find your own treasures and show them off to the class. Well, most things you can show off to the class." Abby said with a wink and outlined the four main categories.

"First we've got intellectual fun. Things you read like comics, fanfiction, satire, blogs, and snarky reviews. Secondly we move onto clicky fun. Games, soundboards, puzzles, webquests. There's nothing like doing nothing, so for our third category we've got videos, clips, music, radio, tv shows and cartoons. Finally..." Abby grinned and leaned across the table, "We've got porn. It comes in all shapes and sizes, from vanilla to hard core and there's something for everyone. Even clowns."

She walked around and passed out large red drink cups. "Okay, so go ahead! Swim away and enjoy your Caf-Pow. No internet surfing party is complete without large doses of caffeine and sugar."

[ooc: Posted early because I'm sleeping in tomorrow and there's porn in this class. Wait for the OCD please. OCD is up! Go ahead and play!]

Early mornings were not Kurt's friend.

However, that didn't stop him from bamfing! to the school and opening up the library after a few rounds on the gymnastic equipment in the gym.

Although he had not done it as much in the summer, Kurt did want to open the library at least a few times a week, to give students a chance to research, or read.

So coffee in hand, he greets the day, and sits at his desk.

Veronica has a very large cup of coffee with her, but she looks ragged. It's obvious she hasn't slept much in the last few nights.

"Okay, gang. This is our last regular workshop. Next week, you'll have time to develop your photos from this week, but then I want you to pick your best photos from class and display them for your fellow students. Today we're going to learn about night photography," she said, giving them a handout.

She was about to start her lecture when Aaron appeared, sneering, of course. They let you teach? he laughed. What are you doing? Trying to get all these kids to be busybodies like you?

Veronica closed her eyes and took a few deep, slow breaths. "No lecture today. Go develop your photos. Let me know if you have questions. And tonight, you're all welcome to attend Professor Arroway's Astronomy workshop if you'd like to practice your night photography skills. Your prompts for next week are Star, Shadow, and Sad."

She put her head down on the desk.

[low interaction from V today; she's worn out from Aaron & the nightmares and I'm worn out from the campfire on Sunday and Caritas last night. talk to each other or ping me in the Talk to V thread.

ETA: Unless you have a canonical ability to see ghosts, you won't see or hear Aaron.]

"Morning, everyone," Tommy greets. "Today's lesson is going to be on the Squirrel style." He gestures to a table at the front of the room, upon which are laid out several different kinds of weapons (practice weapons, of course. nothing live here.)- both traditional and, well... not. There's also a row of practice dummies set up at one end of the room.

"The Squirrel style is all about using whatever you can pick up at the time," Tommy explains. "Sometimes, you may have a sword, or other conventional weapon. Sometimes... you may not," he says, as he picks up a set of measuring cups and whips towards a practice dummy.

[ooc: handwave whatever you want to find to use as a weapon!]

Week 6 - June 28 - The Summer Triangle: Lyra, Cygnus, Aqulia

[Class Roster ]

Star maps: East | West | North | South | Overhead

There were some extra students for tonight's class, and when everyone gathered, Ellie reminded them. "We're being joined tonight by Veronica Mars and her photography class," she said. "They're going to be learning about night photography." Then she began the night's lecture:

Three brilliant stars form the Summer Triangle, making it our best heavenly landmark in the summer night sky. )
