Phoebe is smiling and looking a lot happier than she has in weeks. This could be either a good thing or a bad thing. There is still frantic worry in her eyes over the whereabouts of Camulus, but whenever she looks at a certain someone, her eyes seem to soften a bit.

"It appears that Professor Camulus is down with some sort of illness, so I will be covering his classes until further notice." She looks around the room. "Today we'll be having our mid-term study period." She looks down at her notes for what's on the mid-terms and wrinkles her nose.

"Okay, I know that most teachers don't do this, but I'm Phoebe and not most teachers. I am also in a very good mood. So, things you need to know for your test:

  • Invaders of Ireland

  • Family of Oenghus

  • "The Wooing of Etain"

  • Burial Sites

  • Sloinneadh

  • Boadicea

  • "The Children of Lir"

  • Conaire's gessa

  • Spain-that-be-not-Spain

  • The Four Provinces of Ireland

  • The Six Isular Celtic languages

  • Two Essay Questions on stories you've studied thus far.

  • Ten translations from Gaelic to English
  • "

Phoebe sits on the edge of the desk and swings her feet back and forth. "Questions, comments, random sayings, coffee?"

Yes, she is in a very good mood it seems.

Ms. Sidle has a sparkly ring on her left hand, a wide smile on her face, and coffee for both classes.

It might actually be a good Monday!

Professor Chaucer is a somber mood, as this is his last Western Lit class at Fandom High. There's an Australian shepherd puppy curled up quietly next to his desk -- the dog will look familiar to anyone who went by the school clinic during Dr. House's last few weeks in town. Once everyone is seated, Chaucer stands and addresses the class.

"After today's discussion, you'll have a short quiz to take on the readings from the last couple of classes. Please turn them in to Isabel before you leave.

"Before we get started, I just want to say how much I've enjoyed teaching all of you. You've been a wonderful group of students, and I never realized before coming to Fandom how truly rewarding teaching could be. If from this class you've learned a tenth of what I've learned from you, I'll consider my time here a success.

"I want to introduce you to the professor who'll be taking over for me, beginning next week. This is Professor Miles Raymond. I know you'll all afford him the same attention and hard work that you've given me."

Chaucer is in his office until fifth period. Dr. House's dog is curled up asleep on the couch, so please don't sit on him. Geoff himself seems to be writing a letter, and occasionally staring out the window.

Before she steps into class she takes a deep breath. Time to bring her A game.

301--3rd period

Ok, gang. You owe me essays. Give em up so we can move on.

This week's unit is reciprocity. One hand washes the other, no good deed goes unpunished.

Prepare to take notes. No...really. Your midterm is coming up.

So, a plan for Peace Club. I don't want some bong and drum corps going on. So what did you come up with?

Parker's still studying her script. And sometimes making notes. But she'll help you if you need it.

On the desk at the front is a cake shaped like a triceratops. Students can feel free to take a slice.

"As you might have noticed," Tommy said dryly, "I wasn't here for Wednesday's class. I was actually off procuring some equipment that we'll be needing for our expedition." He pauses.

"Which, incidentally, we haven't decided on a date, yet. So that's today's discussion, guys. It's going to be a whole-day expedition, so a Saturday or a Sunday would probably be best, I think. Also, we still need at least two weeks of preparation time before we can get going."

"For next class, I want you to read this handout on radiometric dating."

Sociology of Violence: 2nd Period

"Hello, everyone. Welcome to class. I hope you prepared your questions for today, because our guest speaker is here to discuss issues of security and law enforcement with you."

"Please welcome Constable Fraser of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the current head of Fandom High's security and total dreamboat."

"Today, you will be broken up into project groups. I am going to give you your topics, and what I'd like each group to do is come up with several discussion questions based on your topic.

If you have any questions or concerns, let me know."

Homework: Here is the Study Guide for your midterm. I suggest you begin to review it.

Students looking for Miss Calendar may be disappointed, as a tall, pale man seems to have taken her place for the day. He springs into action as the students gather. The professor might appear slightly amused by his subject matter, but it's only visible in the tilt of his eyebrows.

"Hello. I am Dream. Miss Calendar has invited me to direct your lesson today on Carl Jung's theories about dream interpretation.

Jung believed dreams are communications from the unconscious; in particular, he said, they serve to express aspects of the individual that are suppressed or neglected. This idea of compensation, of the natural tendency for the conflicting conscious and unconscious to approach a balance, is the basis of Jung's overall theory of psychological self-regulation. In short, dreams, to Jung, are no more or less than the unconscious’ spontaneous portrayal of the situation therein – a sort of signal fire to alert the dreamer’s conscious minds.

Because of this, Jung believed interpreting dreams in isolation was futile. He wrote, "If we want to interpret a dream correctly, we need a thorough knowledge of the conscious situation at that moment, because the dream contains its unconscious complement ... Without this knowledge it is impossible to interpret a dream correctly, except by a lucky fluke."
Lecture behind here )

"In class today, I would like for each of you to offer one example of a recurring symbol you noticed while keeping your dream journals. We will then discuss what this symbol might mean in a Jungian context."

Dream has two handouts offering more information on Jung’s views.

Student Council is happy to announce that extra funding was received for the Spring Break Student Trip to England on March 4-8 (Saturday through Weds.). As such, the fees for signing up for the package tour are waived.

If you are still interested in going to England, visiting Buckingham Palace, checking out Stonehenge, and seeing a West End play, sign up here!

[ooc: Yup, no fees. So your character can go and have fun. Sign up by Weds. the 1st to go!]

Shortly after Tactics of War, Bridge goes to the gym and starts setting up for Fight Club. Once everyone's arrived, he starts talking.

"Okay, so apparently there was a... thing..." he waves a hand vaguely, "in the Shop classroom today. Um- so why don't those of you who were there share what happened? Looking back, is there any way you would have done things differently? How did different people's strengths- or weaknesses- play into things?"

"Actually, you know, there's an idea. What do you guys think of moving meetings to the Danger Shop? I mean, obviously we wouldn't let things get as out-of-control as they did today, but it'd be a good way of getting in some practice with different scenarios."

"After we talk for a bit, there's sparring, of course. Maybe try mixing things up and going two on one?" Bridge suggests. "Because in a real life situation, being outnumbered is entirely possible."

Daniel is looking a bit tired this morning. It doesn't look like he slept well this weekend.

"First thing first, I'm afraid, is a test on the genetics words I set you last lesson."

He pulled down the whiteboard to reveal the list:

Recessive
Alleles
F1 generation
Phenotype
Sex-linked.
Law of segregation
Trait

"Right, with that finished with, we're going to be looking at heredity.

Researchers have identified over 13,000 genetically inherited human traits. More than 5,000 of them are diseases or other abnormalities.

We're going to be looking at eye-color. However, keep it in mind that this is simplified. We're looking at it as a two-gene system, when it's actually a complicated polygenic system. I want you to look this handout

To get a better idea of how it all works, we're going to be using this Eye Color Calculator. Now, as I fill it in: I have blue eyes, and so did both of my parents. Now, um, my, um mate has brown eyes and her parents had brown and green eyes. So, I've filled that in, click calculate, and there we have it. There's a fifty-percent chance of the baby having brown eyes, a 20.8% of blue and a 29.1% chance of green eyes."

Daniel was clearly lost in thought for a moment before snapping out of it. "Okay, try it for yourself, using your parent's, or your own eye-color or what ever you like. You can also change the allele frequency, so see how that affects the percentage."

"Okay, for homework, I'd like for you to look at genetic diseases. There can be:

Autosomal recessive
Autosomal dominant
X-linked recessive
X-linked dominant.

I'd like for you to explain what each of them are, and to also give me an example for each. Thank you and I'll see you next lesson."

"Good afternoon!" The British man in a rather respectable suit stood at the front of the classroom. "I am John, Lord Marbury, Earl of Sherbourne, Marquess of Needham and Dolby, Baronet of Brycey and former British ambassador to these United States. It is my understanding that your esteemed teacher of US History and Government, one Joshua Lyman, has been recalled by the President for pressing matters. As such, I have been called upon to stand in his stead. I have no idea what made me agree to take the post, but I suppose it was possible that I was drunk. But have no fear! I assure you that I am overqualified for this position and that you are indeed in the safest of hands."

He took a deep breath through his nose, grabbed a piece of chalk and strode across to the board. Upon it, he wrote WOMEN'S RIGHTS )
