[Tactics of War] [Monday 6 p.m to 8 p.m.]

“I am Fifth” is written on the chalkboard.

He smiles cheerfully as each student files in and may or may not have a sensory overload when he sees the young teenage Sam Carter.

Once everyone is settled in and he’s composed himself, he begins –

“Your professor is away on business, I’m afraid, and you will be stuck with me for at least this class period and perhaps the next. My name is Fifth.” He smiles very widely and might bounce a little in place.

“On your desk is an iPod with four episodes of the television series “Wormhole X-Treme.” I would like you to pick one, watch it and write down three war tactics used by the characters.

Your choices are:

(1) Shades of Purple in which Colonel Danning quits the SGX to work with the nefarious Colonel Juneborne.
(2) Ergo in which our intrepid heroes have a mischievous consciousness downloaded into their brains to study them.
(3) Power Corrupts Absolutely in which Dr. Levant is seduced by the darkside.
(4) And my favorite - OMG WE ARE SUPERHEROES!! in which our heroes gain amazing superpowers.

Janet signed in, bruised, disheveled, and filthy from today's Danger Shop mishaps. When she sees what's written on the chalkboard, she stops, glares at him and his cheerful smile--he might not recognize her from Sam's memories, since she's a teenager now--and stomps over to a desk, whereupon she promptly sits down heavily in her seat.

"You have got to be kidding me," Janet mutters to herself, picking up the iPod on her desk.

Parker signs in, mildly confused, but also admiring the eye-candy.

Draco signs in and wonders why his teachers keep having numbers for names.

Bridge signs in, eyeing the substitute teacher warily.

Callisto signed in.

Pip signs in, looking like hell.

He has no idea who the person here is. ~~But thinks they looked better on their first appearance than their last.~~

Sam signed in and came very, very close to turning around and walking right back out. She'd had more than enough of robots trying to kill her for one day.

Cameron signs in and wonders where professor Carter is. At least she can't get mad at him for not doing the extra assignment. Then again, he never did get that email.

Colonel Danning/Colonel Juneborne 4ever!!

"That much concentrated sarcasm could make the universe implode," muttered Janet. She peered at her iPod. "Nice embroidery on the name tag on Colonel Danning's uniform, though."

"I think I've seen this show," Pip said. "The Juneborne guy looks better when he has a beard."

He scrawls down three tactics:

1.Infiltration by a double agent (good guys and bad guys)
2.Use of oppenent's resources (bad guys. They used the gray alien guys technology (who are technically their allies, I guess) and they used Col. Danning when he was retired from his command)
3.Establishment of a secondary base (bad guys)

Mmmm...pie.

Janet was able to skim Ergo instead of watching the full episode, though she did stop and pay a little more attention to the scenes with the incredibly petite Dr. Cramer. If she grumbled a little about the medical accuracy of the episode, well, hopefully no one was going to pay attention.

Draco zones in and out watching this episode. He was thinking about how if he had to choose a number for his name he would be Seven. That's a nice name.

OH SWEET MOTHER RUSSIA!!!

"That's absolutely ridiculous," said Janet. "Dr. Levant would never blow up Moscow just because they wouldn't give in to his demands." She didn't mention that she'd found the character surprisingly attractive when he was exhibiting his dark side.

I think something else went on between Stacy Monroe and Colonel Danning in that one scene, but I'm not sure.

"I'm sure nothing else happened," said Janet quickly. "There was no time for it." She'd never seen the next couple of episodes after that, though.

Bridge watches the episode, and can't help feeling that the whole scenario sounds oddly familiar for some reason.

"Oh, they so did. Doin' it."

Parker lists the following tactics:

1) Frontal assault/blitzkrieg
2) surgical strike (on the power source thingie)
3) Bad guys: Siege defense
