The announcements fall during the time between second and third periods today.

"Hey hey hey, as my old buddy Fat Albert would say. Just wanted to give you kiddies some announcements pertaining to el weekend. Tommorow is the auditions for the school's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, starting at noonish in the auditorium. Have some sort of dramatic recitation ready, and because Miss Cordelia Chase thinks we should add some Rock to the Shake-speare, maybe have a song ready to sing as well? That sounds like a plan to me, so yeah, singy-song as well.

Oh, and for those in detention, you can, like pre-record your audition. And send me a tape. Yes.

Oh, and speaking of detention, apparently Boone Carlisle is this weeks poor sucker who just gets to go to detention despite being a good student. Sorry Boone, but thems the rules.

That's all I gots, kiddos.

Today's Announcements were brought to you by the words 'Rob' and 'Thomas'. Would you hold me like a someone broken? What the hell is a someone broken, anyway? I thought Rob Thomas was, like, American or something. Did no one teach him proper Englilish? Study hard kids. Learn to speak better than Rob Thomas. Please, won't someone think of the grammar teachers?"

Janet flipped on the library lights, sat down behind the Collections Desk, and... Heck, it was Friday. She sort of started working.

Ms. Sidle passes around a series of various photographs.

"Using those pictures and these worksheets, I want to you all work together and see if you can determine a point of origin for the fire in this model.

Jenny had several books open on her desk, and was typing out notes for next week's lectures into her laptop. She had a wooden box on the credenza to the side. That was filled with supplies of a slightly more occult nature for Xander's visit later today.

Methos is in his office. He's planning what he's going to do for detention tomorrow. Come in if you dare.

Video day.

Created families is the idea, so she loads in a video of the final episode of Wendy the Werewolf Hunter, Picked. It's 44 minutes of the teacher shaking her head at the idea of running in impractical shoes.

Pay attention to the way they take the concept of belonging to the extreme.

Ted's in his office in case any students need to stop by, y'know, to ask for an extension on that assignment that was due last week.

If you need one, drop Ted a voicemail or hop into his office hours. The extension will be until Thursday next week. After that, you flunk.]

Josh looked up from his copy of the Washington Post. "Today we learn about the presidential power of appointment." He pointed to the board where he had scrawled Cabinet-level, judicial types, diplomatic in fairly illegible handwriting.

"All of these appointments are with the advice and consent of the Senate as laid out in the Constitution, blah, blah, blah," Josh began. "There are hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of these things--someone has to be the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, for instance, or a federal judge in Montana--but the ones that really make the news are Cabinet-level appointments and judges, especially ones heading for the Supreme Court."

He raised an eyebrow. "There have been two Supreme Court justices, including a Chief Justice, recently appointed and run through the Senate gauntlet. The White House usually vets the living crap out of these people, hoping to discover anything that might make them unqualified before sending them up to the Senate." He snickered. "This particular White House, well, slightly less so."

He sat down at his desk and kicked his feet up. "So let's pretend you're qualified in some way to be a Cabinet secretary, a judge or an ambassador to some country--which one do you pick and why?" He smiled. "It's Friday. I don't want to break your brains too much before the weekend."
[identity profile] professor-lyman.livejournal.com
"So, dance tonight," Josh said. "I'll be over, you know, by the punch bowl with the other chaperones mocking you all." He grinned. "In a totally supportive way that will inflict no kind of lasting damage on your delicate psyches."

He looked down at the piece of paper in front of him. "Joining my in chaperoning duties tonight will be Professor Skeeter, Professor Tick, Professor Camulus, Professor MacGyver, Doctor Pevensie, and Constable Fraser."

He smiled at Isabel. "I've heard good things about the Game Night, so congratulations on that."

He kicked his feet up onto his desk and waved his hand. "Discuss last minute logistics, and, you know, things."

The Danger Shop is set up to look like... well, like the bumper cars ride at a fair. There's even a cotton candy machine near the entrance.

"I know a lot of classes are having midterms right now, so I thought maybe you guys could use a break," Tommy says, by way of explanation. "Have fun."

[[Sorry for the wee lessons, but I have a bus to catch in twenty minutes and I stil have to find my copy of the Mabinogian so I can study for my midterm on Monday. *facepalm*]]

Camulus is looking surly and growly and has absolutely no notes with him today. "Today I want you to read The Wooing of Etain and try to follow it. Ominous sounding, I know. However, the story has several different women who change shape and are reborn as different women and married to different kings but still end up with their original husbands. I want some sort of diagram to show that you understand what's going on." He pauses and scowls. "Questions you can ask."
[identity profile] imanaturalblond.livejournal.com
Rita smiled a little wickedly.

"All right. Fun and simple activity today. I would like you each to stand up and tell me one thing about yourself that makes you interesting. What's something that makes you unique, and interesting and possibly famous?"

"Then I'll do quick and simple demonstration of how a writing aid can assist you with wording and thus help you evade being sued. So. Who would like to go first?"

[ooc: Yes, I know we did this. We're doing it again. And there will be a fun and interesting result if you just do what she asks. Feel free to call her on it, though.]

ETA: OOC - A note on the quills )
[identity profile] imanaturalblond.livejournal.com
"Boys and girls, a simple day today. I would like you to get into groups that I will assign, and tell each other about your best friend at this school. Who are you closest to? Why? What drew you to them?"

Rita smiled. "And let's consider 'friend' to be a very loose term, since I've seen you all have a penchant for doing that. Oh, and Ms. Morgendorffer, Ms. Tyler? Your cameras, please."
[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com
Rory sat on one of the tables, a spread of various baked goods from J, GOB on a table near her.

"Hey, guys," she said to the group when there were enough people assembled, "I figured today we'll do some easy stuff. Introductions, ideas, brainstorming. Et cetera. Our main purpose is to figure out community service ideas for other people. Like, I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to be applying to college pretty soon, and that sort of thing looks good. And plus, helping people is good, right? So let's all get acquainted and talk about our ideas."
