Welcome to the Fandom High Homecoming Carnival which we're pretty much forced to do because this school has no legit sports teams to have a pep rally for, you losers!

Alright, so we've got a TON of activities planned for you all today. We've got a dunk tank, a kissing booth, and, well, a big and shiny 'Wheel of Morality' that I'm not quite sure what to do with, but feel free to play with it. There's also carnival food set ups- so go eat cotton candy and ice cream. Well, as much as you can and still fit into your outfits tonight. And, because some students were concerned, there are no clowns at the carnival besides those that we see around school every day. I don't think I'm allowed to ban students, sorry

And, of course, all of this is leading up to the first-ever Fandom High Homecoming Dance! Make sure you voted for King and Queen! And by that I mean for me and Rover

HOMECOMING

The school gym is transformed. There's cool lights, decorations (including non-tacky streamers), and tables and chairs near the doors, forming a dance floor in the middle of the gym. At the far end of the dance floor is a stage, with a DJ booth in front and various instruments set up on top. Along one wall of the gym tables are set up with typical dance food, including bowls of punch.

Lilly walks onstage, and turns on a microphone. "Hey everyone! This is it, the time you've all been waiting for- Homecoming!"

She grins as she waits for applause to subside. "Before we kick off the evening, I'd like to thank the Chef for helping with the refreshments, DJ Echelon for DJing at such short notice, Marty Blank for digging up the bands, and all of Homecoming Comittee for helping out." She pauses for a moment, thinking of who else needs to be thanked. "And, of course, a huge thank you to the school administration for letting us have an awesome party!"

Now, let's hear it for our first band! )

Muttering quietly beneath his breath, Spider is leaning against his desk, cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth and an old book in his hands. "All right, class. You've talked about the four basics of most stories guaranteed to grab someone's attention - heroes, villians, beauty and ugliness." He held up the book. "Today we're going to take a very basic story from this book of Fairy Tales, and discuss what it might have been like with any one, or all four, of those traits reversed beneath the obvious surface. Treat the story as a whitewash of very different events or one side of a much darker story."

"I've chosen two stories and there are copies of each on my desk. Take them, familiarize yourself with the stories, and discuss. If you have a favorite story that is also in this book," he raised it again, "you may use that instead, but be sure to make copies of the story so that those students unfamiliar with the world from which it was drawn can debate and follow along."

The two print-outs consist of the older, darker version of Cindarella (complete with maimings and eye gougings) and Rapunzel (again with the eye gougings and this time with Teen Pregnancy (tm)!.

"This assignment is worth double credit, particularly if either start a debate on the nature of one of our four topics in context, or manage a good revision of the chosen story itself. You may be as literal or metaphorical as you like." Spider glanced around. "Please try to keep off-topic chatter to a bare minimum today."

((OOC: Pardon the player as they are very, very sleepy, but the point of all this is, more or less, to put a 'spin' on the existing story so that the 'facts' support the change in status from beautiful/ugly - hero/villian.))

Over to one side, a photographer has set up his lights and a small stage. The stage, naturally, changes to suit the whim of whomever is getting their photo taken at any given time.

The classroom is empty except for a large raven perched on Dream's desk, busying himself with a bit of string. On the bulletin board, a hand that manages to be both elaborate and angular has written this message:

Students-

Classes are cancelled today to permit you time to prepare for Homecoming. You may sign in and leave. Remember your homework assignments for Monday.

Also, I am updating my class rosters. Check the class lists on the bulletin board and see me in my office if they are in error. All students who have not attended class in the last week and have not submitted an excuse are being dropped, effective Monday.

*When the students enter, they are given a handout with instructions to study that for a quiz the next week.*

*There is a note on the board.*

Everyone,

I had an accident last night and was ordered to take it easy. Please study the worksheets and sign the roll before you leave.

::Any student who shows up for Wrestling Club will be overjoyed sadly disappointed to see that Coach Ash isn't in today::

::He's probably still in a coma sleeping at the Radio Station::

::Perhaps the meeting is cancelled, or perhaps someone could try and track the coach down::

::But honestly, does anyone want to wrestle before the Homecoming dance? It's more traditional to be "wrestling" afterwards, right, knuckleheads?::

Spending a lot of time in your room brooding writing bad poetry unsuccessfully trying to come up with song lyrics being pensive?

Would you like to meet up with others who are also interested in brooding writing bad poetry unsuccessfully trying to come up with song lyrics being pensive?

Have we got the club for you! Hamlet and I, under the advisement of Professor Ted "Theodore" Logan, have organized the Deep Thoughts Club.

At Deep Thoughts we will:

--Be totally comfortable with not having to say stuff, like, all day long.
--Be okay with not having to be happy all the damn time.
--Fulfill the extracurricular requirement for the "I'd rather be alone, thanks" crowd
--Learn to play the guitar because people love it when they think you're creative and deep and stuff
--Hopefully get more action than the Celine Dion fanclub

Our first meeting will be next Thursday.

Sign up below if you're interested.

Again there are dvds and a tv and dvd player set up so her students can learn more techniques. Beatrix is sitting at her desk making some kind of a list in red and black markers.

Rogue has posted a note on the door to Gandalf's classroom. It reads:

Comparative Religions is cancelled for today, due to Homecoming. Read pages 95-118 in your book, and write a 200-word essay on the effects of Buddhism on Shinto in Japan. It will be due on Tuesday.

*half-assed drumroll from whichever band member is least faint of hunger.*
Thanks.
