The class was back on the (fake) beach yet again, only this time, instead of a volleyball net, there was a series of different surfboards stuck into the sand and a collection of machines that might look a little familiar if you were a frequent user of the gym here on the island. Which should pretty much give you a good idea of what the class was working on today.

"Since we now know for a fact that we're going somewhere warm and beachy for the school trip next week," Gladio explained, perhaps unnecessarily, "there's one thing I'm really looking forward to, and that's doing some actual surfing in! So, naturally, it made sense to cover surfing this week in case any of you wanted to come join me in catching some waves while we're down in Barbados.

"So today, we're going to learn how to do it, a few techniques, and some general tips. We've got the surf trainers to start on, and if you want to stick with those, that's fine, but we've got a big fake ocean with a variety of different waves to work with if you wanted to venture out into the water, too. Whatever you're most comfortable with. But let's start with the basics..."

"We're going on a trip soon," Don told his students, "so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to talk about some sun safety information." Especially since two of you were English and one of you was blond. "A sunburn isn't just a temporary painful inconvenience, although it's definitely also that. Over time, damage to your skin from the sun can lead to skin cancer. Wearing protective clothing, like long sleeves and a hat, is a good idea, and you should always wear sunscreen, which is usually found in a lotion form but can also be found in stick or spray format." Don showed them a bottle and explained that, "This number is the SPF, or sun protection factor, number. The higher it is, the more radiation from the sun the sunscreen will block from getting to your skin.

"I also want to talk about heat exhaustion and heat stroke," Don continued, and proceeded to handwavily discuss those topics, because his player has a splitting headache. When he was done he asked, "Are there any questions?"

The bats were still in the library. The bats were still much better behaved than the books had been last week but that was a very low bar to clear.

They were rather adorable, Belle had to admit, when she found one hanging upside down under the desk. Even if this one was...glittery?

"Did the gremlins get to you when they were doing arts and crafts?" Belle asked. "Do you need to visit the veterinarian or will you be all right?"

The bat just looked at her, its expression inexplicably broody on its tiny fuzzy face. "Well, I'm happy to assist should you need something. Until then, you can hang out right there. Keep me company."

A few other bats came over the desk eventually and looked at her expectantly. So what was Belle to do? Read them a story, of course. Or several stories.
