It was December now, which meant time for Arden to start making a holiday gift list and checking it twice. She had a lot more people to buy for this year than she had last and that thought made her almost glow slightly with happiness. Not literally though. She'd checked.

Still it was amazing how much could change in just a matter of a few months. Hells, she'd only run away from Callista's house not even a full year and a half ago? And now she had friends, a boyfriend, a best friend, mentors...

Families.

It was practically dizzying.

...And so was the number of people now that she had to buy gifts for, but still. What a problem to have, right? Much better than the alternative.

The real question though - did she have enough creativity for shopping for all these folks?

Ooof.

"While we've concentrated mostly on national parks and monuments this class," Steve began, standing in front of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, "they are not the only organization charged with the protection of our nation's history. Many of you have already visited the National Archives downtown in Washington, DC, to see the founding documents of the United States: the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. But the Archives is also charged with keeping track of all the other historical documents as they come into existence. Since Herbert Hoover, presidents have established presidential libraries in their home states to display all of the, well, stuff, they accumulate as president."

"We picked Reagan because, well, he's a huge influence on everything as it stands today," Tony added. "Not really for the better, but it is important to know."

"We're in California in December, too," Steve said with a little smile. "That was a factor as well. Ronald Reagan was president for eight years in the 1980s and oversaw the end of the Cold War. He also drastically cut many of the government-funded social safety nets that had been in place since the 1940s." He gestured around. "This is considered the most extensive of the presidential libraries, so there's a lot to learn and discover. You can even go sit in a replica of the Oval Office. Maybe you'd make better decisions!"

Steven.

"And we'll be buying In-N-Out for the class." As a bribe, Tony?

It was certainly working for Steve. "Oooh!"

Well, another Wednesday, another class with a cat lurking... at the front door? Not inside, apparently?

The guy with the white hair and the absolutely ridiculous grin on his face inside was definitely not Kreia. "Hey, what's up?" Dante said cheerfully, practically bouncing on the heels of his feet in the Danger Shop. Around him was a truly beatific landscape of forests and hills. "You know, this has got to be the first time in-- oh man, a long f--"

A loud flock of ducks flew past overhead.

"--ing time that I've been moose-napped. I didn't even know I could be moose-napped. Kathy's going to have a coronary."

He looked at the class. "I'm Dante," he added. "I literally just got airdropped in here so I have no clue, but apparently there's a princess being held in that castle," he jabbed his thumb behind him, "You can pick flying, laserbeams-from-your-eyes and invisibility from the big stack of weirdo power clothes over there--" he pointed at the table, "--and what you do with that is up to you." He squinted towards the door. "Feels like something someone felt would be a life lesson or something," he said, "But it just sounds like good cardio to me. Knock yourself out. Let me know if you learned anything at the end of the class, I guess."

He was not built to be a teacher.

Connor had ended up having to do last minute work for Prospero that morning so it was just Cutter standing in front of the class that morning, he had definitely been helping himself to the latke’s that had been appearing that morning.

“Welcome back,” Cutter said as he stood in front of the class, “I don’t actually have anything prepared for this lecture,” he admitted, “so I thought we would do something simple today and have a movie day,”
