noonedecidesmyfate: (belle - are you effing kidding me)

The orange that came flying out of nowhere to hit Belle while she was shelving books today hurt. She yelled, she searched high and low, but the culprit was nowhere to be found.

That was probably for the best. Whatever gremlin (she assumed it was a gremlin) had hit her would likely be regretting its life choices if she did find it.

Whoever had smeared cream cheese on the floor would also be regretting their choices if Belle found them.

For now she would be sitting at the desk plotting revenge. And reading. Of course.

Your teachers were there this week and they had even picked a class topic that wasn't assigned to them by the moose! Or maybe they'd just somehow come across a dozen or so waffle makers and needed to make it work.

Either way.

"The waffle is a delicious treat that need not only come from the freezer," Jaskier proclaimed. "Some people are able to make them without the use of a toaster. We are not such people, but perhaps you all may be."

"To make waffles without the toaster," Yennefer told the class, "you use not the oven, but this specialized device known as the 'waffle iron.' No need to worry, it's harmless. Probably." Why would she say it like that? "Although it does get quite hot."

"Try not to burn yourselves on them," Jaskier added. He'd definitely burned himself on it.

He was fine. Yennefer had healed it. But she said, "Yes, that's very important. You can make any kind of waffle you like. Buttermilk waffles, whole wheat waffles, even pumpkin waffles."

"Today we're going to make sense of secrets," Anakin said. "You can crack codes and shake people down in coffee shops for information all day long but if you can't slot what you've learned into a larger picture, your work is useless. So today we're going to do a simple series of exercises to help you put together the pieces."

He pointed to a safe, then to a cafe table, and finally to a computer. "You must crack the code on the safe, then break the code on the information inside it. You sit at the cafe table to receive a not from a contact: they will say 'nice weather today, isn't it?' and you must reply, 'But it might rain tomorrow.' And finally, you must scroll Twitter until someone starts complaining about a sudden change in their weekend plans. At which point, you have the three pieces of information to learn where a major world leader will be on Saturday."

He smiled. "Easy!"
