sake_shinigami: (and....there it is)

Hopefully, no one got too used to that extra hour before having to traipse off and discuss battle tactics the laziest captain in the history of the Gotei 13, because they were back on their usual schedule, though Shunsui would hardly blame anyone if they skipped right through into BABSG again. Especially if they were using that time to sleep more; if they'd been using it to be more productive, or other such nonsense, then, clearly, he had failed them as a teacher.

Not that they were going to miss too much, either, because Shunsui sat in the circle of cushions at the center of the room with a pack of playing cards in his large, slender hands, shuffling through them idly as he spoke.

"War," he said. "What is it good for ♥?"

There was a pause as if something was expectantly filling in the next part before he continued.

"Naturally, war at the center of the concept of this class, which has hoped to inform you all of things to do in a battle to make you more likely to claim victory. And while one can find a great deal of success in a well-executed stategy, there is one element that is quite out of our control that has the potential to bring all of our best-laid plans to ruin, and that element....is luck ♥."

With that, the shuffling stopped, and, with a flick of his wrist, a Joker card appeared briefly, and he flicked it dramatically ot the side.

"Today we play a game of war ♥. Not with soldiers, not with tokens, not even with maps or guns, but with cards ♥. The rules are simple: choose an opponant, and the deck is split, 26 cards to each. The goal is to have all 52 cards by the end of the game, and the game is played by each player laying down a card: whichever card has the higher value is the victory, and the player with that card now possesses both cards. Aces are high. Should there be a tie when both values are even, then a battle begins. Each combatant lays two more cards face down and then plays a third card. Whichever value is higher then gets the whole pot. Should the next played cards also match, then the battle is repeated.

"Is there strategy to be had here, in a game that favors nothing but the turn of a card?" He smiled. "Perhaps. It should be interesting to try, wouldn't it? Or is it all just pure dumb luck, and is that really any different to an actual battle? Are we just pawns to chance to who has the biggest number ♥?

"Let's play, and find out ♥."

"Oh, hey, look at that," said Summer, once everyone was hopefully rerouted to the Danger Shop and ready to go. "I'm back! While it's been no Math, this class has been through a little bit of a tonal whiplash the semester, huh? But it looks like Rosa's still out, so, I don't know, I guess balance has been restored to the universe or some shit because we're back where we started, which is my class, thus multidimensional, thus Danger Shop.

"But you know what?" she added. "There's an important lesson in there for a badass bitch. Adaptability. Rolling with the punches. Dealing with three very different teacher attempting to generally teach you on the same subject and having pretty disparite views on it. A good lesson in knowing that most of us are probably just bullshitting anyway, so it's up to you to really decide what's helpful for you and what works, and dismiss everything else that isn't. And that's what we're going to work on a little bit today, but I'm going to add another layer to it, because I just spent the last few months working with a kickass team in space, and it's really shown me something you'll probably never hear Rosa Diaz talking about in one of her classes, and that's teamwork.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," she said, waving her hand a little. "Let's cut out all the cheesy Sunday morning cartoon bullshit about the power of friendship and shit like that, but, seriously, legitimately, one of the most badass things ever is having a good solid team that you know you can rely and depend on, and one of the key componants of that is knowing what everyone's strengths are and knowing how to use them to your advantage. And sure, if it weren't for me," excuse her a moment to preen, thank you, "using my portal gun to open up a connection to a denim dimension to destroy the New, NOT-So-Improved Galactic Federation's entire weapons system, it would have taken months more to finally defeat them. But, in the process, it was using the various strength and skills of our badass team of lady space rebels that got us there, and, really, I wouldn't have even had a portal gun if it weren't for my super-genius boyfriend and a mutual desire to get petty revenge on my sociopathic grampa by stealing and improving on his own design.

"So today," she finally concluded, "what I want you guys to do is take some time to get to know each other and what special skills one might contribute to a situation. Then, we're going to plop you into a situation and you have to work together to get through it, but the important thing is that everyone has to use their skills or talent or whatever in some way. Even if it's little, you're not only trying to solve the problem, but you've also got to figure out how to make everyone be able to shine a little bit. Maybe it'll all work out naturally, and you support eachother without even thinking. Or maybe it's a little bit of a pinch to work in someone's cat-juggling skills, but I bet you guys can definitely find a way to make it happen.

"Alright, twenty minute jam session, then off we go!"

"All right, we're continuing the holiday theme," Kitty greeted the class. "Today's ingredient is eggnog. I've got a basic recipe, but feel free to try different spices or flavors. Also, let's make them Christmassy. I've got a bunch of things you can use as decorations, but if you're feeling creative, why not put something together yourself?"

Really she encouraged creative chaos.

Today Aphra had a games console set up in the Danger Shop that she looked to be in the middle of some percussive maintenance on. She waved at her students with the hydrospanner.

"Hologames are heaps of fun, especially if you're the kind of kid who doesn't really make a lot of friends." Not that that description had ever applied to anyone in the room. Ever. "And games like Fantasy Romance Sim: Everything Is On Fire and Now There Are Dragons, can really give you an idea of how people tick. Even if in the real world you can't slice them and take care of issues like them not being romanceable or having incompatible ethics systems.

"But don't worry, I've fixed this copy so you can date whoever you want!"
