"A couple of weeks ago," Rosa said, starting class with no fanfare or introduction, as they met in the classroom yet again for what was obviously going to be another discussion class, deal with it, "there was a class where I didn't come in, but there was a box of donuts on the desk. I'm sure at least some of you figured it wasn't just me forgetting to come in and the island just providing random donuts, although both of those would have been legitimate assumptions. It was actually a test. A set-up. For this class today.

"So...how many of you went ahead and helped yourself to the random donuts? How many of you abstained? Did you stick around for class or did you leave once you realized I wasn't showing up? Of course, I had security cameras on you guys the whole time, so I know what the answers are, but I want you guys to talk about why you did what you did and defend yourself on why you think your choice was the most badass one to have gone with. And for your trouble?"

Rosa reached under the desk and plopped another box of donuts on the desk.

"You get donuts again."

If you choose to accept them, anyway.

Yennefer was still trying to wrap her head around 'democracy' but she thought she'd gotten the gist of it by now.

Relatedly, Henry VIII was back.

"This is not the king you previously served. This is his identical cousin...Hugh. Funny story. You've been asked by the queen you serve to visit Hugh and deal with a rather delicate situation in her stead. You see, every five years the nobles of this kingdom hold an election, and if they don't like how the current king is getting on, they can replace him. Hugh is nearing the end of his first term, and he has been deeply terrible at the job--closing the borders, wreaking havoc with the taxes, generally causing all sorts of economic chaos, plus he keeps trying to sleep with his bannermen's wives, plus there has been a plague upon the land during his tenure, which he has opted to simply...pretend isn't happening.

"Oh, and his children are all terrible, too.

"So it came as no surprise to anyone but Hugh when he lost the election last month in favor of a duke known for his competent management of his lands. However, the deadline to vacate the castle is coming up, and Hugh refuses to admit that he lost."

"Voter fraud!" Hugh exclaimed. "The election was rigged!"

"Just so," Yennefer agreed. "However, for reasons completely unbeknownst to me, King Hugh has a cult of personality among a certain unpleasant minority of the peasantry, and there are concerns that if he is not handled delicately, he could attempt to lead an uprising to keep the crown. Therefore, your job is to convince him that he lost." Yennefer shot Hugh a doubtful look. "Good luck with that."

Today's assembly was being held in the Danger Shop, which was mocked up to look suspiciously like downtown Fandom--including all of the tinsel that had invaded--but weirdly empty of any people aside from the students who'd found themselves there.

"Right," Anakin said. "This will hopefully not end up in another food fight. Today we have a guest from out of town," he said, pulling out the card from the front office from the pocket of his cloak. "Please welcome Lord Shaxx and his discussion on...The Crucible!! With two exclamation points."

Anakin had such a bad feeling about this.
