When the students came in today, they'd find the Danger Shop set up to look like a movie theater -- though Kennedy had brought the popcorn and snacks in herself, so they were definitely real.

Speaking of whom, she was standing in front of the curtains that currently obscured the movie screen, looking tired and a little bit irritated and also like she'd gotten into a fight with a clawed and slimy something large on her way here today.

"Hey, everybody," she said with a sigh in a voice that definitely backed up that tired-and-irritated thing. "So there was a whole elaborate thing that I had planned for today, and by complicated I mean I had to get my girlfriend to help me set up the whole program because that's her jam, except the flash drive I had it on got a little bit totally smashed by a demon this morning when I was trying to make my portal, so . . . long story short, I just barely got here and didn't have time to put together a really good backup lesson."

She clicked on the remote in her hand, and the lights started to dim as the curtains opened to reveal the screen.

"So, movie day. There's a pretty good amount of improvising weaponry and figuring out how to defend yourself on the fly in this one, at least." Also Alicia Vikander looking all hot and badass, but Kennedy was keeping that bit of editorializing to herself.

That wonderful tavern was back once again. Did the teacher not know how to change it? Was it a security blanket? Who really knew?

Either way, it was there.

"So, today is about earning money," Magnus said. "Even though your money is weird. Other than on the ten. That dude's okay."

"Not enough women," Cara said. "Some of the places with colourful money have women."

"Yeah, what's up with that?" Magnus asked, hands on his hips. "Euros are adorable and the money here is just shitty."

Getting off topic here, folks.

"You can't even wash it." Why were you washing your money to begin with, Cara?

"Ah, money laundering." Nooope. Got that one wrong, Maggie. "But today we're gonna try two methods of getting money. Punchin' dudes and punchin' machines."

"Though the first isn't the traditional way of getting money off people by punching them." Also known as banditry. "For some reason these money just magically appears when you hit them."

Also EXP, can't forget the EXP, Cara.

"It's not looting if they're bad guys!" Magnus added cheerfully. "The other way is hitting these money machines real real good so it gives you the money."

He pointed over to an ATM that may or may not have been in the tavern all along.

"We're not responsible if you break yourself rather than the machine."

"Let's get ready to rumbleeeeeeee..." Magnus shouted. "Responsibly because neither of us are clerics."

Once again, Liam and Verity's original plan for the class had not involved the Danger Shop. And yet, once again, here they were. Meeting in the Danger Shop.

That original plan, in case you were wondering, had involved meeting at the gym in town, for parkour. Unfortunately, when they'd arrived to set up, the receptionist at the desk had told them in no uncertain terms that that would be impossible. A hazardous waste spill, they'd said.

Why did a gym even have hazardous waste?

On the bright side, at least there was enough distance from last weekend's weirdness that it was unlikely people were still dwelling on it?

"So today we're going to learn about parkour," Verity said, looking beleaguered as a cityscape sprang up behind them. "Parkour was developed from military obstacle course training and is the sport of getting from one place to another by using the environment. You run, you jump, you climb, you dodge, all in an attempt to be the fastest person through a complicated urban environment."

Even the insanity of the Danger Shop couldn't stop Verity from sounding fond as she explained. She hadn't gotten the title of Arboreal Priestess for nothing.

And was Liam shooting her fond looks as she described what parkour was? Yeah. You shut up.

"I suppose it's actually a good thing we're back in here today," Liam said, looking around. "Since it gives you the chance to work with a substantially more expansive course than we were going to set up in the gym."

Foolish Liam, thinking the Danger Shop would actually let them just run the program they'd intended.

Once was chance, twice coincidence. Third time...the charm? "We'll start you out in a basic area so you can get used to thinking in multiple dimensions," Verity said. "Fences to scale, outcroppings to grab, obstacles to jump over. When you get comfortable, we've set up three courses of varying difficulty for you to experiment with. See how far you can get, how fast you can go."

"There's no 'right' way to move in parkour," Liam advised, gaze flicking between the students with their very diverse body types. "Where one person might vault, another might climb. It's all about what feels most natural to you."

The library books were out in force today and made a lot of noise as Eleanor as she entered and got near Special Collections.

Eleanor responded in the classiest way she knew how which was by flipping the books the bird and telling them to "suck a bag of docks."

And then went promptly to sleep at the main desk.

Around lunchtime for like, the West Coast Zoe set up the Student Council room with a variety of pizza, sodas and snacks, and cookies. Teenage metabolisms were a great thing, really.

"Thank you all for volunteering for Student Council," she said once everyone was settled. "I hope you're all ready for whatever visitors might be coming this weekend. If you have any questions about Parents Weekend, I'd be happy to answer them. If not, if you have an idea of how we can entertain our guests on Saturday, let's hear it."
