Right, so there was no creeping horror outside. That was a good thing! Hell, if Kanan was the singing sort, he'd be singing the praises of this new and improved situation from the rooftops! Honest.

... This week might come and go without him even realizing what the strangeness was.

"So it's a safe one this week, folks," he shared, having sent the students directions to a particular spot on the beach. There was no way in hell he wasn't taking advantage of it being safe to do so, no. He'd brought bottled water and fruits and there appeared to be a net set up in the sand. "Which means today we're going to work on movement in difficult terrain. And hand-eye coordination."

Sure, Kanan.

"Grab a ball and a partner, stand on opposite sides of the net, and hit that thing back and forth. Don't let it touch the sand if you can help it. Don't fall if you can help it. And, because this is Fandom, if you have any abilities or tools at your disposal that might make this exercise easier for you, please feel free to give them a try. Just communicate what you're about to do to your partner if it's something potentially dangerous."

Yes, class, today was beach volleyball day: Powers on.

The island seemed normal! Normal-normal, as in there wasn't any creeping gray stuff or weird smoke, and so far everything was the color it was supposed to be. Therefore, class was outside today.

"We're going a bit simpler this week," Aeryn said, "with an Earth game I have never played."

Weirdly Talyn had never asked her to.

"I have played it many, many times," Anakin said, "and if you don't think it's a cut-throat game, you're playing with the wrong children. It's called Duck, Duck, Goose, and there are no animals actually involved."

Which had confused him initially.

"Apparently you all have to sit in a circle, and one of you is it. And then you walk around, tapping people on the head and designating them ducks, until you designate one of them a goose and then the goose chases you?" Aeryn was still confused on this.

"And if you beat them back to their place in the circle, you become a duck and they become the goose. But not literally."

This game made NO SENSE to two aliens from different galaxies. "It might have something to do with Santa and his flying reindeer? Perhaps this goes back to an earlier time on the planet where animals were more interesting?"

Anakin, no.

"Do not invoke Santa," Aeryn warned.

"I can take 'im," Anakin told her. "I have successfully defended myself for five years at various malls!"

Aeryn opened her mouth to say something, then thought better of it, and turned to the students. "Lana, you will be a goose."

There. That made this normal.

Extremely normal!

"Not an actual goose," Anakin reminded her, sitting down on the ground. "And complaining about how hard you get smacked in the head is traditional!"

At least with his kids.

Class today met at Portalocity, and Hannibal was calmly smiling. He didn't trust the island, but so far it seemed normal this week. So far.

"In the past weeks, we have been to Europe and Asia - two of Earth's continents - and today we are heading to another - Africa. The country of Morocco, to be precise, in the north of the continent."

He led them through the portal and into a bustling early-evening street surrounded by stalls. "Marrakech, Morocco," he explained. "Morocco has been a hub of trade for centuries, and its spices and cuisine reflect that. Mediterranean and Arabic cuisines are the strongest influences, and olive oil, fruits, grains, and a number of meats, including lamb, are common."

He led them further down the street. "Today we will be eating at Dar Cherifa, a restaurant meant as a calm oasis in the midst of the souks - the markets. This makes it handy for us, as we will be able to spend the rest of our time in Souk Semmarine. The restaurant features a fairly traditional and varied menu. I will order a number of things for us to share, and you're welcome to order your own as well."

He nodded at the waiter as they were led to their table. "The predominant languages here are Arabic and Berber, but most people will also speak French, and some will know Spanish or English. Please don't hesitate to ask should you have any questions. When you visit the souk, keep in mind that the vendors will expect for you to haggle over the price; it isn't an insult, it's tradition."
