"Morning, class!" Amaya was far too chipper for a Monday morning, really, and she was likely to be like this every Monday morning, so have fun with that. "Hope you had a good weekend, but I also hope you're ready to get back to work! We'll be using some of this fancy equipment today, so please help yourself to some caffeine if you need it."

Or maybe some diazepam if you were Beaker.

"Now, a quintessential shop class project," Amaya continued, "or so I'm told because we didn't have anything like this back when I went to school, is a bird house. Now, some of you in my last construction class already did bird houses, so you might have a leg up, but we're still doing something a little different. We're actually going to give it a little Fandom Island spin and what we'll be making are actually squirrel houses. You may be asking yourself, but what makes it different?, and the answer to that question is simple:

"Booze. It's booze."

She started to hand out copies of her blueprints and instructions, and then got out the prototype she'd made in advance as she explained. "The idea behind the squirrel house is to have a little place to entice the radio squirrels into when you might want some privacy or to ensure that someone you say or do doesn't make the broadcast. And we all know the best way to bribe those squirrels into secrecy is with a little bit of booze. So you'll notice the interior here is set up almost like a bar, where the squirrel can mosey on up inside, and we're going to include this little feeder bottle-like apparatus where you take one of these individual-size bottles of booze," she held one up as an example-rum, of course!, "put it in upside down like thus, and now the squirrel can go inside, go up to the bottle, and have himself a little drink while you go about your business without its tiny little nose all up in it."

A project involving booze and bribing squirrels with it. Did it get any more Fandom than that?

"I'm having you guys attempt to build this from start to finish," she informed them, "which means following the blueprints carefully to trace out the pattern on the wood, and then using these table saws to cut them before we put them together. And since these table saws are dangerous, let's take a second to go over how they're used. And remember, gloves and goggles whenever using any of the equipment. Safety first!"

As she demonstrated how to use the saw and peppered it with safety details, she added, "If you have any reservations about using the power saw, people don't hesitate to ask for help or try a more traditional saw."

...Beaker.

"For the holes, we're going to use a drill and a jigsaw, which is a good alternative if the table saw makes you a little nervous," and she demonstrated that as well, "and then we're going to go old-fashioned when we nail these pieces together, with a good ol' fashioned hammer. And if you find yourself with some extra time, you can sand it up, make it look nice, trim off some of your rough edges, and there you go! Your very own squirrel house!"

"Any questions before we get started?"

Today the class was in the Danger Shop, because Brooke was pretty sure she knew how to program it without it glitching now. The students would find themselves on the sides of a closed-off street filled with dressed-up people and a lot of little British flags.

these will probably be wordy classes )

Carter had spent probably too long writing notes, on paper, and having them delivered to each of their students so that they would know to meet on the beach today. He'd also left a note taped to the door of their classroom as well, just in case, since it wouldn't do for anyone to miss class because they hadn't known where to go.

"Hello everyone," he said, once everyone had gathered. "I'm sure you're wondering what we're all doing out here today. While the calendar here continues to elicit some confusion, we did note that today in many places is something of a holiday."

Though exactly what said holiday entailed... ? No idea.

Yeah, don't ask Fjord, either. He wasn't even from an Earth. Still, he was here, looking fairly game for basically whatever. Possibly because there was going to be grilled meat.

He wasn't difficult to please, sometimes.

"We figured," he said, "it would be as good a time as any to do some socializing. And eating. And... whatever else you want to do on a holiday in the beach."

He had a complicated relationship with the beach himself, lately.

Grilled meat (beef, chicken, and fish; since Carter might not understand different worlds but he could make accommodations his students), grilled vegetables, chips, juices, sodas, and water to drink. And cookies, of course. Carter had baked peanut butter cookies today, since no one had mentioned anything about being allergic to peanuts last class. Either way, there wasn't much for people to complain about.

"Make an effort to talk to one another," Carter urged. "You can't learn to make friends without talking to one another, even if a conversation doesn't go your way."

"It's a party," Fjord agreed. "If you can't find something to have a conversation, then..." He frowned for a moment in thought. "Play tag or something."

... Was that a thing kids did at this age? Hell, he had no clue.

... Carter was glancing askance at Fjord for that one, yes. Tag? May and Stu considered themselves too old to play tag and they were much younger than these children.

"If you know how to swim," he said, "feel free to do so. As this is the last class of the day, once the period is over, you're free to remain here," with the free food, "or go about your business elsewhere. We do ask that you stay in this area for the class. But enough talk--come and eat. Enjoy yourselves!"

"Okay!" Vanessa said at the start of today's class. "Today we're going to teach you about the most important thing you need to know about in this day and age, which is: condoms. You need to know about condoms. Because condoms are awesome! They're the cheapest way to not get knocked up and-slash-or knock somebody up, and they keep you from getting a horrible disease. What's not to love?"

"No love, no glove. Or is it the other way around?" Wade asked, tilting his head thoughtfully. "No glove, no love. That's the one. Either way... wrap it before you tap it."

Were they just going to keep coming up with bad sayings for this?

Vanessa had loads, but she also had more information to impart. "And if you're a lesbian and feeling left out, that's what dental dams are for! Yay barrier methods! Not that oral will get you pregnant...

Wade chimed in with a harsh whisper of, "Immaculate conception."

"...usually...but on this island, better safe than sorry, right?"

"Oh, that too," he added. "That's pretty likely."

"Trust no alien genitals unless you're using a barrier method. It's just a good rule! Also, maybe ask if they have barbs or acid semen or anything before you let them stick it in you. But I'm getting off track. Now we'll demonstrate how to use a condom!" Not like that, you pervs.

They had a lot of plans in place for alien sex, folks. A lot.

Wade brought out a bunch of bananas and a box of condoms for this, going for the most cliche method of teaching this that they could. "We'll demonstrate and then you all will do it too. Just please don't end up with a banana fetish or something. That's not on us, that's on you."

"We don't judge," Vanessa assured them. "But. Yeah. Okay, so here's what you're going to do." Take banana, add condom. Not that difficult. "Now you try."
