When the students arrived on the worksite that day, they wouldn't find their usual teacher, but someone different there waiting for them, and didn't she just look so excited about it, too?

"I'm Detective Diaz," she offered, "and I'm here because Ms. Blackstone is sick. Now, usually, a sick teacher means a blow off or movie day, but since that would put this whole thing," she gestured vaguely at the building, "behind schedule, you guys get me instead. And insulation." She hitched a thumb toward the piles of fluffy pre-cut sheets, and flashed them a crooked, sardonic grin. "Aren't you lucky?"

"Now this stuff stings if you get it in your skin or eyes, so make sure you're wearing your stupid gloves and goggles, okay? This shouldn't be too hard; the stuff's already cut, so you just...put it in." And she demonstrated with one sheet, even if it looked more like she was frisking a suspect than anything else when she was fitting it in. "Now, some of it might be short," like the one she just did, "so just pick a small piece and fill it in and just tape it. No big deal. If you've got a wire or box, just cut a space out for it. Again. Easy. Babies could do it."

And then she sort of stood there for a moment. "Okay, then, I guess, get to work? Oh, right, she also said stay hydrated. Yeah. Okay. Don't have too much fun."

Jono was squinting at his syllabus again today, yes. Apparently the office moose was listening to the broadcasts and had decided that 'pizza party' was not a brooding class appropriately spent. And so, they were meeting out in the park, and were told to bring umbrellas or at least half-decent rain gear.

//Right,// he said, faintly perplexed. //I suppose I need to cover where to brood this week. Which means this is going to be a short lesson. Brood wherever you feel the need to. Class done.//

An acorn bounced off the side of his head, and Jono turned a sidelong glance toward a squirrel who had camped out in a nearby tree.

Ugh.

//... Alright, fine. If you're going to be brooding,// he hated using that word so bloody much, yes, //odds are you're either in it for show - in which case you'll want to look for the proper moody backdrop, I suppose. I don't know, go for something dilapidated or really high up. Or you're in it because you're actually aiming to be alone with your thoughts. You can't work up a proper train of thought at all if you're surrounded by interruptions. People who'll walk in on you and start a conversation are basically the bane of it all. Go for a walk on the beach or in the woods. I don't actually recommend a rooftop. There are always more people up on rooftops than you'd figure.//

Around here, anyway.

//The library is usually nice and quiet. I enjoyed working there back when I was a student, largely because of that quiet. And then there's a classic. The park bench.// He gestured to it. //I planned this class before I took th'weather into consideration, but the rain adds... I don't know. Ambiance. I brought bread. Feed the ducks or something. Or just get in out of th'bloody rain. Whichever you prefer.//

Welcome back to the danger shop, students! Mitsutada stood at the front of the dojo set-up, though this week he was conspicuously alone.

"Hello again," Mitsutada said, an apologetic expression on his face. "My guest appears to be running late, but that just gives me a chance to do a bit of a more in-depth introduction of myself. You see, this week we are talking about tachi, which is the type of sword I am."

He knelt down in front of the class, setting a sheathed sword in front of him. He pulled the blade free, but left it on the ground.

"I am Mitsutada Shokudaikiri, forged by Mitsutada Osafune in 1238. I am most famous for being a sword of Masamune Date, the One-Eyed Dragon of Oshu. I don't harbor any bad feelings towards Lord Masamune, but my name comes from a time when I killed someone and happened to cut a candlestick that was nearby at the same time. Although it really was a bronze candlestick holder, it would've been cooler if it had been something a bit more durable."

As Mitsutada finished his speech, gold sparkling light appeared next to him, and then with a flash there appeared a burly man in a dark red track suit with turquoise hair and red eye shadow.

"Kakakaka!" the man greeted, a big beaming smile on his face.

"You did this just to make an entrance, didn't you?" Mitsutada said with a little shake of his head. He sheathed his blade and stood up.

"Before I introduce myself, I have been given a present for you, Shokudaikiri-san!" the burly man said.

"A present?" Mitsutada said, eyebrow raised. "From who?"

"From Sadamune!" the burly man said, before wrapping his incredibly beefy arms around Mitsutada in a vigorous hug. "He said you might be sad that I was not one of your Date brothers, so he thought you might need a hug."

"...thank you please stop," Mitsutada said, struggling just a little to breathe. The large man did so, and then turned to the class.

"Kakakaka! This humble servant of Buddha is called Yamabushi Kunihiro! Piling up baskets in the countryside, for the sake of all creatures and paradise I am always in the middle of Buddhism practice day and night! Even the war is a part of my ascetic practice! I was forged by Horikawa Kunihiro in 1584, when he was mountain priest like myself. I know this is not much of a story compared to some of our more... dramatic Danshi brothers, so I hope I make up for it in presentation."

He flexed, dramatically. "Roar, my muscles!"

Mitsutada laughed quietly, but smiled to the class. "Any questions for our guest or me before we practice?"
