The Danger Shop was set to look like a bright red brick path going through violently green grass, with large pastel shapes off in the distance.

"Given it was one of those weekends, I felt some stress relief might be in order," Bond said, stepping aside to reveal the day's vehicles.

They were go-karts. With what looked suspiciously like rocket launchers attached to the front.

"So, uh, I guess this is finals week? I mean, shit, I checked the calendar like eight times, so if it turns out it isn't I guess that'll be a sign that you shouldn't have listened to me all along or something." Sparkle looked faintly bemused today, like maybe he wasn't entirely convinced that they'd survived the semester and the students hadn't eaten him or anything. "So I'm gonna keep it light on the lecturing. I mean, I... I think there's not much more that I can tell you in a lecture format. Don't get arrested, don't get attacked, don't get stolen from, watch your back, if you keep people around make it people you trust. Water and food and shelter and clean clothes and some way to stay warm..."

He huffed out a sigh.

"Don't do drugs? That's an easy trap to fall into when you're unemployed and homeless and feel like you have nothing left to lose anyway, trust me."

No, really, that was actually a big one. He spoke from experience.

"So this week... remember when I had you guys all find water? I'm gonna send you out to do something a little like that. I'm going to give you a list of places around the island, and I want you to go, check them out, and come up with the positives and negatives of trying to stay in each one, and what you'd have to do to make any of those spaces livable if you did. You can go it alone, or in pairs, or, shit, one big group if you really want. And you don't have to hit everywhere on the list, if you're feeling really thorough. Just so long as you come back with something and it doesn't look like you went dicking off to the Perk and sat drinking frappuccinos all class or anything."

Peridot was still a little perturbed that her great find over the weekend - a whole binder that said it contained information on the machinery of the island! - had been empty when she'd opened it. In part because, so help her, she'd been excited to do something actually helpful, and also because it meant... well... the organization in the non-fiction section, particularly on their materials pertaining to mechanical devices, needed a bit of work. Especially if entire binders had been gutted with their contents scattered to the winds, but were still sitting empty on shelves.

Unacceptable.

So Peridot could be found in the stacks today, painstakingly opening every book and binder she came across in order to make sure that all the pages seemed to be present and intact.

... She wasn't going to end up making so much as a dent by the end of the day, but her gumption was pretty admirable anyway. And she was a Gem. She had literally forever to do this, right?
