Urban Survival - The Uglier Side of City Living, Wednesday, Period 2
"So, uh, I guess this is finals week? I mean, shit, I checked the calendar like eight times, so if it turns out it isn't I guess that'll be a sign that you shouldn't have listened to me all along or something." Sparkle looked faintly bemused today, like maybe he wasn't entirely convinced that they'd survived the semester and the students hadn't eaten him or anything. "So I'm gonna keep it light on the lecturing. I mean, I... I think there's not much more that I can tell you in a lecture format. Don't get arrested, don't get attacked, don't get stolen from, watch your back, if you keep people around make it people you trust. Water and food and shelter and clean clothes and some way to stay warm..."
He huffed out a sigh.
"Don't do drugs? That's an easy trap to fall into when you're unemployed and homeless and feel like you have nothing left to lose anyway, trust me."
No, really, that was actually a big one. He spoke from experience.
"So this week... remember when I had you guys all find water? I'm gonna send you out to do something a little like that. I'm going to give you a list of places around the island, and I want you to go, check them out, and come up with the positives and negatives of trying to stay in each one, and what you'd have to do to make any of those spaces livable if you did. You can go it alone, or in pairs, or, shit, one big group if you really want. And you don't have to hit everywhere on the list, if you're feeling really thorough. Just so long as you come back with something and it doesn't look like you went dicking off to the Perk and sat drinking frappuccinos all class or anything."

Park, Preserve: Weather could be bad. Water good. No owners. Trees better shelter.
Warehouse, businesses: Weather less problem. Owners problem? Good shelter. Defensible.
Stables: Probably best if owner okay or avoidable. Defensible, animals early alarm system, weather less issue.
