If he seemed a bit sulky, well - he'd heard the other him had had tentacles.
Other him had also been stabbed and immolated to death, so Cecil was still coming out on top, here. Kanan gave him a little side-eye, and then shrugged it off. Cecil would be Cecil. Best to just roll with it, at this point.
"Dirt and fog," he noted. "So, this week, instead of giving you a test or something, we're going to take it easy. You've got two options to choose from for how you spend the rest of the class period."
"Different places have different ideas about how to handle stress," Cecil said. "Not to mention things you see that might strike you as weird. In Night Vale, we say, 'See something, say nothing, and drink to forget'. It's actually part of proper municipal behavior!"
"And where I come from, that's probably an indication that you've got some kind of problem," Kanan noted, conveniently glossing over the part where he had some kind of problem. "Especially at this time of day. And not everybody is into drinking, or even just hanging around in bars. The ambiance can get a bit overwhelming. So, if sitting on a stool listening to the sound the duct tape makes when the band needs to reattach their limbs isn't for you, we have Option B. Puppies. The shelter loaned them out. Apparently they're a little extra attention starved, since nobody was in for a few days to play with them."
For obvious reasons.
...because the puppies weren't there? That was the obvious reason here. Cecil was totally going with that.
"Or, if a puppy infestation isn't your idea of a good time, just stay inside and drink! Or I guess you could drink and then go outside for puppies, if that's your sort of thing."
"Or stay inside and don't drink," Kanan noted. "Frankly, it's your coping time, how you spend it is up to you. But, you know, I'll be out here with puppies either way. Earth dogs are ridiculous. It's kind of endearing."
"That's what they want you to think," Cecil muttered darkly.
