Cara had led her students over the causeway again this week, though today the bar they'd ended up in was considerably less shady.

"So last wekk you tried to figure out if people were trustworthy enough to listen to when they askd you to go on some kind of quest," she said, once they were seated. "Now today we're going too assume that you were actually concinced to do something, which brings us to whether you actually have the skills to acomplish your task, since there's very little point in storming the castle if you've never even picked up a weapon.

"Ideally you'd be able to find a well-balanced team whose skills compliment each other, but since that never happens, you're going to have to work with what you've got." Cara gestured at them. "Talk with the person next to you, work out what skills you have that might help accomplish the quest I'm about to give you, one way or another."

"Branding! That's where a villain can really make themselves super," Fred said. Class was in the Danger Shop, and there was a collection of outfits and weapons available on racks and tables behind Fred. "And there are layers to it. Like me. Believe it or not, I didn't pick the name 'Boomerang.' I played pro baseball here in the States and I was a really good pitcher. But some weirdos in robes recruited me and decided that being awesome at throwing stuff meant that should be my thing. And hey, I'm Australian, so of course they give me boomerangs. And the costume was covered in them. And they named me that." Was there an eyeroll? Yes, there was!

"Welcome back, everyone," Ben said with an easy grin. "Hopefully your weeks were less eventful than the weekend, though my daughter certainly enjoyed streaking around our room." Ben paused. "She's a year old, so it wasn't weird."

Obi-Wan repressed a smile. "The most straightforward unexpected family event you may suffer on Fandom is the appearance of a relative at the Welcome Picnic," he said. "If you are lucky - or depending on the circumstances, not so - it will be the relative you know, from the same time that you came in on, and the same place."

Ben nodded. "If you're not so lucky--and trust me on this one because it happened to me--you meet one who doesn't know the trauma they're going to hit a few months or years down the road."

"How does one deal with that?" Obi-Wan said. "Say, you know a relative will perish within the next two years - and there they are, alive and well, unknowing of what fate might befall them. Or perhaps they'll fall ill, or have some terrible brush with danger. Do you tell them? How?"

"And how do you deal with it if nothing changes, either if you tell them or keep it to yourself?" Ben added. "You know, the easy questions."

"It is best to be prepared, just in case," Obi-Wan said. "We would like you to discuss this in the hypothetical, and consider if there is anyone you know who might put you in such a situation."

The library was unusually quiet, and Lucille was reshelving books, at the same time looking for interesting ones to read herself. He hummed a tune, the melody of one of the pieces she had been practicing on the harpsichord.

Eventually she noticed the deception. The books might be quiet, but they were chaning places behind her back. She heard a quiet rustling and then she turned around, the book she had just but back on the shelf was now to be found in a different place. Not far away, just under a different subject.

Lucille sighed. "Well, you just have to find your own places then." She dumped the rest of the books on top of the nearest shelf and spent the rest of her shift reading a particulary exciting young adult novel that she would recommend Cassandra later.
