As promised, when lunchtime rolled around, Zoe had everything ready for the new Student Council. There were a variety of pizza boxes out on the table, as well as a salad to vaguely pretend to have a healthy option, and then a plate of cookies because even salad people needed cookies.

"Good afternoon," she said, once everyone was settled with their food. "I'm glad you all could be here." She was glad to see most of you, at least. "The Student Council is an important part of the school, helping to make sure our various activities go off without a hitch, and apparently making sure things are covered in glitter as often as possible, but that could just have been the aim of previous groups. I wanted to make sure we met today for two reasons. First, we have to pick a president from our two seniors, and we have to start preparing ourselves for Parents Weekend, which is in two weeks. For those of you who are new, Parents Weekend is when family members and guardians and friends are all invited to come visit, so the island gets pretty full. If you have an idea for something we can get everyone together for on Saturday besides a basic dinner, let me know."

The teacher was back and once more in his familiar grey and yellow armor when the class arrived at the danger shop. "Welcome back. I hope Agent New York was a suitable substitute teacher for you in my absence."

And didn't spend the time complaining about Wash's cats. His perfectly reasonable number of cats.

"Laps again," he said, gesturing toward the perimeter of the programed warehouse. "You'll get used to it." Or just hate him immensely. One of those two.

Once that was completed and teams had been made up, Wash was ready for them. Or as ready as one could be. "Today we'll be playing capture the flag. There is only one flag, so the goal is to with defend or steal it depending on the team you've ended up on. You can accomplish this any way you see fit, but I strongly recommend working with your team rather than running off on your own."

Please try not to Leroy Jenkins this, kids. Please.

When students arrived, they wouldn't find Didi there, but Atton, looking mildly uncomfortable. "Hey," he said, "Your regular teacher's out for the day, so I'm covering."

He sat down on the desk. "A lot of cultures place a lot of importance on bodies," he said. "I think this local culture called the Egyptians had this idea that in order to remain immortal after death, you had to keep the entire body as intact as you could. They had these intricate rituals that were meant to preserve as much of it as possible. They'd leave gifts behind, too, and they'd cast spells. Nowadays, Earth culture is a little more relaxed on it, but people will still go to great lengths to get bodies back, so they'll have something to bury. Sometimes bodies get cremated and strewn out over significant locations, that kind of thing."

He took a deep breath.

"Which leaves the question, what if there isn't one?" he said. "Some people feel that leaves them with nothing to mourn. Like it's empty, or not real. For other people it doesn't matter. I'm sure there are rituals out there, too, like marking a location and declaring that grave your loved one's anyway. Most of the time, what people really need is just a place they can mourn at, that's tied to this other person."

He shrugged lightly. "How do you feel about that?" he asked. "Are there rituals you know of? If someone you cared about died somewhere far away and you couldn't retrieve their body, what would you do?"
