Student Council, Friday [lunchtime]

As promised, when lunchtime rolled around, Zoe had everything ready for the new Student Council. There were a variety of pizza boxes out on the table, as well as a salad to vaguely pretend to have a healthy option, and then a plate of cookies because even salad people needed cookies.

"Good afternoon," she said, once everyone was settled with their food. "I'm glad you all could be here." She was glad to see most of you, at least. "The Student Council is an important part of the school, helping to make sure our various activities go off without a hitch, and apparently making sure things are covered in glitter as often as possible, but that could just have been the aim of previous groups. I wanted to make sure we met today for two reasons. First, we have to pick a president from our two seniors, and we have to start preparing ourselves for Parents Weekend, which is in two weeks. For those of you who are new, Parents Weekend is when family members and guardians and friends are all invited to come visit, so the island gets pretty full. If you have an idea for something we can get everyone together for on Saturday besides a basic dinner, let me know."

Yeah, Dante had not actually intended to wind up here. In fact, even after the announcement, he'd almost just not shown up. But then he'd thought fuck it, maybe at least it'd be funny, or something.

And he was really happy now that he had decided to show up, as he claimed an entire pizza box, kicked back in his seat, and ate pizza while Zoe talked.

Isabela still couldn't believe they'd been desperate enough to actually put her on this thing, but here she was, sprawled out in a chair with one leg hooked over the arm.

At least there was free food.

About halfway into Zoe's speech, Dante turned to look back at the rest of the group with a slice of pizza dangling out of his mouth.

Which he promptly removed. It was getting in the way of a perfectly fine line of sight that led to someone's perfectly fine rack.

Isabela was actually paying attention to Zoe, mostly because she had eyes and partly in the hopes she'd tell them picking a president involved some kind of wrestling while shirtless and covered in glitter. A girl could dream.

She gave no indication of noticing Dante (and his oh so very dashing pizza dangling), but completely coincidently chose that moment to stretch her arms up over her head.

He appreciated that, 'coincidence'. Dante smirked quietly to himself.

Only then did he return his attention to Zoe. And his pizza.

Since she did so like to be appreciated, Isabela had an answering smirk of her own, though there was nothing quiet about it.

Then she tragically dropped her pen. If by 'dropped' you meant picked up a pen that happened to be handy and threw it at Dante while Zoe was looking the other way. Oops.

The pen hit him in the shoulder and then fell neatly down to the ground. Dante looked back again, and spotted her. This time, the smirk was very much aimed at her.

Also the leaning over to pick up the pen that didn't at all show off his arms.

Yes, it didn't show them off very nicely indeed, so Isabela's appreciative grin must have been directed at Zoe or something.

(Well, Zoe and Dante were both in her line of sight, so that was working out very well for her.)

Dante tapped himself on the nose with the pen in recognition of her fantastic choice to grin at Zoe.

Then he turned back again. Because work or something. Or so he could write 322 on his hand and hold it up facing Isabela for, like, three seconds.

Good thing Isabela was a quick reader, because that was absolutely vital information to know.

Now she just had to wait for the next time he turned around so she could wink in acknowledgement, at Zoe of course.

Frank had no concerns over being chosen. In fact, he was drinking to it from a flask with the Student Council logo on it.

What's that? The Student Council didn't have a logo? NEITHER DID THE FLASK! Use wordplay to your advantage, people!

April looked super proper and polished today for her first brush with student politics. Her hair had been neatly curled and everything! She would just be here paying super-close attention to Zoe and taking her duty to the student body very seriously.

So the existence of dextro pizza was nice to know about, but now Tali was trying to figure out how to get some through her mask filters without getting melted cheese smeared everywhere and . . . well, this was going to be a challenge ~~I DON'T KNOW HOW 98% OF EATING ACTUALLY WORKS FOR QUARIANS~~. These suits hadn't exactly been designed to account for food like this.

Which was not fair, because it smelled really good, but she'd figure it out. Mostly at the moment this involved trying to pull it apart into really small pieces that she could maybe get in through the filters.

Maria was happy to see that her big sib was here since they had been too busy to talk with school and her new job.

"HI, Tali!"

"Maria, hey," Tali replied, glad for the distraction from . . . just sort of picking her pizza apart. "Jumped right into student leadership? I'm taking that as a sign that you're settling in okay."

"I wasn't even aware that I had a chance to make it on the Council," Maria said with a smile. "So, it was a nice surprise. As for settling in, I think I'm doing pretty well. I have a job and everything."

"I'm sort of getting the feeling not everyone here expected to be here," Tali remarked. "I know I definitely signed up on purpose, though."

Admittedly, that had been partly because back home, it wasn't likely that there would be a quarian politician outside of the Migrant Fleet any time soon, so why not? Sure, it was just Student Council, but it sort of amused her.

"I think you told me about the job. At the music store, right?"

"Oh, I signed up, I just wasn't sure that I had a chance to win a spot since I'm so new and don't really know many people." She was really happy to be there, though.

"Yes, Groovy Tunes and I have a guitar now so I can work on my music."

"So I can hear you play soon, then?" Tali had maaaaaybe perked up just a bit.

Eric was totally with April on team 'excited and pleased to be here, oh my god'. He'd had to restrain himself from baking a pie to bring to the meeting, figuring there would be plenty of food supplied already, and he didn't want to step on anyone's toes.

Tali waved a (slightly pizza-greasy) hand at Eric. "Careful. You don't want to bounce right out of your seat or anything," she teased.

Eric went still, a faint blush creeping up on his cheeks. "... Am I that obvious?"

Yes. Yes you were, Bittle.

Tali laughed and held her thumb and forefinger just barely apart. "Only a tiny bit. To the very observant."

No, it was actually really obvious.

"Don't worry, it's not a bad thing!"

Eric's glance darted over to Isabela and Dante's not so subtle flirtfest. "... I get the feeling not all of us actually signed up with the intention of doing, you know, work."

Tali used to think Liara had been unsubtle about Shepard. NOT IN COMPARISON TO THAT, NO.

"I'm not entirely convinced all of us knew what we were signing up for," she said, and you didn't have to see her face to be able to tell she was smirking.

Alana was visibly pleased to be back on the counsel. She claimed a slice of veggie pizza and a slice of pepperoni, and leaned back comfortably to listen to Zoe.

Gwen was here, and on purpose this year! As it turned out last time didn't suck, so the squirrels got to mind their own business this year.

Gwen vs. Alana - fight! Unless only one of you wants the job!

Alana shrugged ~~as the mun got a strange sense of déjà vu~~. "I mean, I won't lie, I didn't fall asleep last night dreaming about being StuCo president," she said. "But I like being on the counsel and I feel like I've done a good job representing my grade for three years. I'd be honored to keep doing that as president. But if I wasn't in the running, I'd want Gwen to get it. So really we're both good choices."

"I'd vote for you," Dante called. "Nice speech!"

To be fair, he didn't actually know Gwen, whereas he knew for a fact Alana was fun.

"Oh, I don't want it," Gwen said. There, that was easy!
