"Good afternoon," Zoe said, once everyone had come in and taken a seat. There was plenty of lunch food to go around - pizza, chips, sodas, and pumpkin desserts since it was officially October now and that was all that was available - and Zoe looked rather content. "I know Parents' Weekend was hard for a lot of folks--I do listen to the radio broadcasts, as invasive as they can be sometimes--but I believe our part went off without a hitch."

Aside from all the gremlin-bitten folks at the talent show, but that was out of everyone's hands as far as Zoe was concerned.

"Next week is our school trip, and I hope some of you will be coming with us if you don't have anything to do for the fall break. We can discuss Homecoming the next time we get together, but start thinking about theme ideas if you'd like. Also, congratulations Sparkle, you're this year's president." That was certainly going to make for an entertaining year.

Class was back in the Danger-Shop-as-kitchen-stations again today, and Hannibal nodded at the students. "Last week, we learned about knives, how to choose them, how important they are for cooking." Greenly. He'd been searching for better versions of Baltimore for the future.

He picked up his own knife, which was not a creation of the room. "But there is more to using them than just hitting things with the sharp edge and hoping they cut," he told them a bit dryly, his thumb skimming lightly over the blade.

"Not that I expect you to be paying much attention today because break starts this weekend," Josh began with a little smile, "but you still have classes today, and our topic is the fun-filled laugh riot that is most textbooks' accounting of the Native American population in our country." He held up a finger. "Now, it's not an easy thing to look at the history of your country and point and say, 'yeah, right there? We were TOTAL ASSHOLES'. No one ever wants to be the villain in their own story, and the systematic exploitation and extermination of hundreds of tribes over hundreds of years is really not a pretty thing to delve into."

He pointed to the building behind him. "So this week I've taken you the National Museum of the American Indian, where the tribes tell their own stories from their perspective. Our tour will be focused on the Native struggle for survival since their first contact with Europeans. You'll find out how Native cultures have persisted despite the colonization of their homelands, examine treaties between the United States and Indian nations, and explore how international borders continue to affect Native Americans throughout the hemisphere. You'll see modern examples of how Native communities continue to define their places in the world and reflect their unique cultures and identities. Listen. Ask questions. Examine the world from a new perspective. After break we'll get into the debate of how history should be taught to stop ignoring this facet of life here in America--we might even yell about the DC footbal team--but today, have some fun."

He smiled. "And don't miss the cafeteria. It's the best place to eat on the Mall."

Students today would be -- relieved? disappointed? mildly amused? -- to note that the well-dressed James Bund wannabe was no longer in front of class with the other two. But unfortunately for them -- or fortunately, if they took this class for the train wreck factor -- Pam and Cheryl were there like always.
