Student Council, Friday [Lunchtime]

"Good afternoon," Zoe said, once everyone had come in and taken a seat. There was plenty of lunch food to go around - pizza, chips, sodas, and pumpkin desserts since it was officially October now and that was all that was available - and Zoe looked rather content. "I know Parents' Weekend was hard for a lot of folks--I do listen to the radio broadcasts, as invasive as they can be sometimes--but I believe our part went off without a hitch."

Aside from all the gremlin-bitten folks at the talent show, but that was out of everyone's hands as far as Zoe was concerned.

"Next week is our school trip, and I hope some of you will be coming with us if you don't have anything to do for the fall break. We can discuss Homecoming the next time we get together, but start thinking about theme ideas if you'd like. Also, congratulations Sparkle, you're this year's president." That was certainly going to make for an entertaining year.

Emma helped herself to some pizza, she was a growing girl after all.

Damn right, Sparkle was swinging by for the meeting during his lunch break at Dite's. He wouldn't miss this for anything.

... Not just because he was the president, though that really was a good reason to actually show up. Also, hilarious.

He was grinning as he helped himself to another slice of pizza or two.

"Congratulations!" Cecil grinned and came in for a hug. "I know you'll be great."

Pfft, Sparkle would never turn down a hug.

"I have no freaking clue what I'm doing," he confessed, "but I figure if I fake it enough, nobody will know the difference. It's just buckets of glitter and maybe a speech or two, right?"

"Well, duh." Cecil rolled his eyes. "Plus you can hide behind people whenever there's trouble."

"Is that you volunteering to be a human shield, Cecil?"

Sparkle was just teasing!

Mostly!

"Not me!" Cecil's eyes went wide. "The regular students; I'm hiding, too! You just get a better hiding place."

Sparkle held up his hands, cackling. Yeah, he was a shit. Yeah, he was okay with that.

"Okay, okay, not behind you," he promised. "Anyway, I like you too much to let you get eaten first."

That wasn't very nice, Sparkle! You were getting an eyeroll for that. And then a grin. "Thanks! I'd rather see some other folks eaten before you, too." Eliot.

"See and that's how you tell a true friend," Sparkle cackled. "Everyone else gets eaten before us. Pinky swear on it!"

Did you really want to do that, Cecil? It seemed like a dangerous proposition, with this one.

Pinky swears were Serious Business! Cecil straightened up and considered it for a moment, then nodded and stuck out his pinky. "Everyone else gets eaten before us!"

That was an oath he really didn't mind!

There were definitely worse pinky swears to make, true! Sparkle grinned and linked his pinky with Cecil in the most solemn of oaths.

"See, and now it's official. So don't go and get yourself chewed on by anything big and hungry any time soon, man."

"I'm not planning on it!" Cecil grinned and lowered his voice a bit. "Well, unless it's ♥Carlos♥. He can chew on me any time!"

"Okay, there are definitely a few exceptions," Sparkle cackled, re-claiming his hand and clapping in amusement. "But that's a totally different sort of chewing. The fun chewing is totally allowed."

"In that case, definitely!" Cecil agreed. "No not-fun chewing at all!"

"Yay for President Sparkle!" Which, of course, meant Minako was going to toss two handfuls of glitter directly above his head in celebration. It was what BFFs were for.

"Oh god! You've got me! I'm dying!"

Yes. Yes he was sinking to his knees with a hand over his chest.

"Sparkle, sparkled to death in his prime! What a world, what a world!"

Minako just laughed, tossing a ribbon at him that she'd made. The riotous pink and fuscia and neon green clashed terribly with itself, but the button in the middle read in big, bold, gold glitter:

"Smile!" she cheered, taking out her phone and holding it up. "I want evidence of the fact I sparkled Sparkle to death!"

"Oh god. Better turn that flash off," Sparkle laughed, shrugging and holding up the ribbon. "You'll just get one big mess of white."

Because glitter was reflective, and all.

"I'm going to be twinkling for a month, you jerk."

"Flash is off, and so are all the funky filters. I can add them back in later," Minako answered, snapping off a few pictures super-fast. "I should totally give you cat-ears!"

Minako, no.

"And if you didn't want to twinkle, you wouldn't be, well, you."

Sparkle... would be okay with cat ears.

"This year's is going to be the most twinkly yearbook ever, isn't it?"

Because... photoshopped cat ears. Really.

He stood up again, trying to shake some of the glitter from his shirt, leaving a cloud of it twinkling down to the floor.

"And what do you mean, I wouldn't be me, huh?"

"You're, I dunno, you?" Minako said, snickering as she sent the photos to Sparkle before using her phone to add cat-ears to one of her copies. "Bigger and more awesome than EVERYTHING, yeah? Besides, no one who hated glitter would ever be friends with me."

"Nobody who hated glitter would ever survive in this place," Sparkle pointed out, bending over and trying to ruffle some of the glitter from his hair. It... sort of worked, anyway. "They'd just, like, implode the first time they went to a school function. Pfft! Just like that."

"So, double the glitter for Homecoming then, Mr. President?" Minako asked, doing her best to look sweet and innocent.

"Better make it triple to be on the safe side," Sparkle said imperiously. "We wouldn't want Fandom's alumnus to get all soft, would we?"

They had to keep them on their toes!

Gwen of course went right for the pizza, and was still trying not to feeling weird that she went to Student Council meetings.

It wasn't working, but the pizza helped.

Yay, pizza! Cecil was here, and just generally being cheerful at everyone.

"I can't believe I was sick and missed the talent show," Minako complained, grabbing some pizza. "Radio made it sound epic."

Mara got a slice of pizza and a place to sit while she tried to figure out what "Homecoming" meant.

"Where are we going this year?" Alana asked, around a mouthful of pizza. She'd clapped when Sparkle's name was announced, too. Yay President Sparkle.

"So wait," Gwen said, "we have a week's break and the school takes us on vacation? Like for real?"

"Free of charge," Sparkle agreed, giving a little nod. "It's the weirdest thing, and I'm still not used to it, but so long as you don't try to, like, steal any livestock or anything, it's pretty kickass."

And let's be real, Sparkle totally didn't regret trying to take off with that camel that one time, either.

"Yes, please don't steal anything," Zoe said. "We're going to be helping rebuild a community that's suffered from some natural disaster, if I remember correctly. Not quite as vacation-oriented as previous trips, but it should still be interesting."

"Some of them are pretty fun," Cecil said. "But they're usually warmer." He was pretty worried about this trip, honestly. Community was great, but so was not freezing to death.

"Hey, it's a week off school. I'll take it," Gwen decided.

"I'll take it," Cecil agreed a bit more dubiously. "I just hope they have lots of heaters or something."

Before or after the meeting!
