extreme physical education, period 1, tuesday

Today, the class was in the Danger Shop and Sam didn't have any of his friends with him. It was a sad, sad day. Or it wasn't and it was just like a regular class day.

"Good morning," he greeted, giving everyone a wave. "Today, we're gonna get a little cold because we're going to go snowboarding! I figured it's a good segue from the skateboarding we did a few weeks ago since the sports are similar except done in very different surroundings."

Sam started up the simulation while he explained. "Snowboarding is basically hopping on a board and going down slopes covered in snow while you're on that board. It requires balance and strength and ability to withstand some chilly temperatures."

Sam provided a quick demonstration on how to stand the equipment required for a snowboard, how to attach the boots, and then how to stand and move since this type of activity didn't require the rider to pump a foot to gain speed.

"Safety equipment is a must so everyone's gotta wear a helmet. Bundling up is optional but I'd recommend it because it's cold. There are three different slopes going from a gradual slope all the way to a steep one. Pick your poison and let's go!"

Anakin burst into the flight simulator shed in a helmet and red cape tied to his arms with yarn...and crashed onto the floor. "I am Super Grover 2.0 and I am here to teach you fine students the art of flying!"

Arts and Crafts with Friends!, Tuesday

Pinkie was in extra fine form, today, standing amidst what appeared to be giant piles of brightly colored rocks, wearing a chef's hat, a pair of safety goggles, and a set of the rocks on a string around her neck and all four hooves.

"HIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHI!" she greeted. Great. Someone had let the pony have caffeine.

Derek was wincing, hands over his ears like that would protect him from high pitched, loud ponies. It did not protect anything. "Inside voice."

"Oops!" said Pinkie, looking abashed. "SORRY." She cleared her throat, covering her mouth with one hoof. "Today we're going to make friendship jewelry. It's one my sister's and my specialties!"

She then proceeded to explain the rock candy around her and how she and her sister Maude started exchanging rock candy jewelry to show their friendship with each other.

"Oh god, there's another of you?" Derek was focused on that. Somehow.

"Uh," Pinkie said. "I have a whole family. Maude's just my favorite." Geez, Derek.

"Oh god."

"Don't worry," Pinkie said brightly. "I'm sure you'll get to meet her at least at the next Parent's Weekend!"

Whatever 101, Tuesday, Period 3

The Danger Shop was a movie theater today. Sure, as a former employee, Kate could probably have pulled some strings and made a visit to MST3000 happen... but that was way more work than she'd felt up to. Plus she liked having more control of the sim. So, they were in a fake movie theater lobby.

"Today, we're going to the movies!" Kate announced. "It's a valuable life skill, because basically, sometimes you need to relax or you'll go crazy. And going to the movies is great for that because you get to sit on your butt for at least an hour and a half and just focus on what's in front of you." Maybe she wasn't great at picking things to teach, but she was damn excellent at spinning the things she picked as somehow being useful. "So, you're gonna buy tickets ––" She gestured towards the box office. "–– and some snacks ––" The concessions area. "–– and then you're gonna go in the theater, find yourself a good seat, and settle down to watch the movie. Sound simple enough? Get to it, and don't be afraid to ask for help if you get stuck on something. Like what snacks to bring."

She was ever so helpful.
