Hannibal arranged everything on the desk, then waited for everyone to arrive, smiling as they came in.

Once they were there, he began. "Last week, we discussed what makes us see something as food, why some things are or aren't. This week, the question is: Why do we eat?"

He waved at the food and drink behind him. "There are the obvious answers; most people will start with, 'we eat because we're hungry'. But it's rarely so clear-cut. Each section here is a pair of foods. You may eat or drink only one from each pair. Choose one - or neither - and explain to us why. Feel free to debate it with each other as well. Feel free to ask me or each other questions."

He leaned forward. "Remember, there are no wrong answers; it's the reasoning we're after."

Class was meeting in the park today, and boy was it a scaled down version of a game today. Flash was standing in the middle of a patch of grass. A goal was marked on either end with cones and he was holding a round, black and white ball.

"Last week I mentioned my favorite sport is football. I was talking about what the rest of the world calls American football since they use that name for something else where you're constantly hitting a ball with your foot," Flash said. LIKE THAT MAKES ANY SENSE. "It's the most popular sport in the world, but here in America it's more like number five, so we just call it soccer. But since the finals of their World Cup is this weekend, we're going to play it."

"The simple rules are this. You kick the ball. You don't use your hands. You try to kick the ball into the goal which, in our case, is those cones," he said, pointing. "One person is the goalie and can use their hands to keep the ball from going in the goal. The more complicated rules involve penalties, cards for breaking the rules, and penalty kicks. But we're keeping it simple."

"Just like last week, we're going to practice a little first, then get right to a game."

Cara had her students meet her at the Danger Shop today, which should've been a warning sign for those who'd taken her last class.

Inside the Danger Shop, there was a large room with four pairs of large boxes against each of the four walls.

"Find a partner," Cara said, without any preamble. "Preferably someone you like. Quickly." After giving them a minute or two to find their partners, she continued. "Everyone pick a pair of boxes, get in, and close the doors."

Once they'd closed the doors, however, each pair would find themselves inside a small, sealed, mostly featureless stone room, with a small stone plinth in one corner holding an hourglass and a note which read 'When the sand runs out so does your air.' on one said and 'Help is coming.' on the other.

Well, clearly, this was going to be a fun class.

Class was meeting again on the beach today. It wasn’t the fourth, no, but it was hot, and Pam and Cheryl didn’t feel like getting dressed up. Please enjoy your teachers and their bathing suits, everyone.
