They were back in a simulated shooting range again this week, but the counters were gone, with sandbags in their place, the targets were further back, and instead of pistols, there were rifles set out instead.

"Good afternoon," Bond greeted them. "Now last week I mentioned that pistol shooting utilises a somewhat different skill set to using other firearms, as a case in point we're going to be working with sniper rifles today. Now while a handgun is likely to be used as a relatively short-range weapon, and is easier to carry and conceal than larger weapons, a sniper rifle is used for accurate shots over large ranges, achieving these objectives through use of telescopic sights and engineering for precision. While using both kind of firearms requires a steady hand and a good eye, a sniper must also be able to take a number of other factors, such as wind speed and direction, into account to be able to make their shot, and as well as often requiring patience and the ability to select an ideal location to shoot from, though we won't go into those last two today."

He then went on to explain the working of the rifles, including how to properly operate the bolt action and read the sight, before demonstrating how to aim and fire the weapon from a prone position.

"Now for the most part the range has been set up as optimal conditions, that is to say no wind to take into account, but there is a section," Bond indicated a few of the farther lanes, "...with less favourable wind conditions for those who feel up to a challenge or who just want to see the effect."

When Sholeh walked into the library today, there were books everywhere. A common enough occurrence, except the books were...exercising. The romance novels, specifically. There were books doing laps around the circulation desk. Books on the table ponderously opening and closing in reps of twenty before flipping onto their front covers to open from the back. Books stretching their spines--one book stretched so hard the spine cracked and it collapsed to the ground in the flurry of panicked page flutters.

Watching this would be fascinating no matter what book were involved, but since it involved the romance novels, Sholeh was treated to watching cover after cover of men's glistening chests and women's heaving bosoms move from one series of bookly exercises to the next.

Some of the nutrition and health books were acting as coaches, but it took Sholeh a little longer to notice them. It may take her longer still to notice any patrons because, well, were you seeing this?

"Hihihi, everypony!" Pinkie greeted, as boisterous as usual, though at least not vibrating. She was alone at the front of the class today. Apparently, Derek had managed to escape his sad teaching fate, this week.

"Today we're going to try a recipe that combines two of the best things in the world, cheese and cake!" She flung her hooves in the air, spreading a fine mist of . . . was that orange zest?

Well. At least it wasn't glitter.

"We've got recipes and lots and lots of tasty tasty ingredients, so dive right in! The sooner you finish, the sooner we can all have a tasty cheesy cakey treat!"
