When the students arrived at the Danger Shop, they'd find it not set up to look like a forest, or a cliff, or any sort of landscape one might expect to encounter while progressing on a quest, but rather... a ball pit.

Standing in front of said ball pit was a rather sheepish looking Thor.

"First off, sincere apologies for missing class last week. There was an urgent matter that required my attention," he explained. "Second, I cannot seem to get this machine to create the illusion I desired. This is the only one it seems able to manifest, currently. I am not entirely sure as to its purpose," he admitted. "I was hoping one of you could explain it to me."

Class today had been handwavily informed to meet in the danger shop. Because that wasn't ominous at all for this class. You just might end up going to the holidays with glitter in your hair, kids. Sorry about that.

The shop was set up to resemble a field of tall, dry grass, surrounded on all sides by bare trees. It was all very . . . atmospheric.

As for what that atmosphere was, a hint could be found in Pinkie, who was dressed in a fabulous full body turkey suit.

Yeah.

Derek was wearing a pilgrim hat and looked as though it offended him on multiple levels at once. "Thanksgiving is tomorrow." In case no one told them. "So we're not teaching today."

Wow, that was blunt.

Pinkie let out a surprisingly realistic turkey gobble and started pecking at the ground. She made her way over to a stack of brightly colored camouflage (mostly pink, sorry folks), an assortment of turkey calls, and bow and arrow sets. Then she gobbled again.

What, you'd eat turkey, but you couldn't speak it?

Derek just sighed. "You're hunting a turkey. Work as a team." Because he was the best teacher in the room who wasn't currently a turkey.

Pinkie gobbled and flapped her wings a little furiously.

Translation: Danger shop turkeys. Do not hunt the Pinkie!turkey.

Then she pulled a whistle -- a real one, this time, not a dog whistle, someone had FINALLY clued in about why Derek hated those things -- and blew it sharply.

Hunting time is go!

"Uh, hey, everyone," Bruce greeted the class from up front. "I'm Dr. Banner and I'm covering for Professor, uh, Electroclash today. I guess the administration thought I had experience in this topic."

He was darkly amused, but if you didn't already know why, he wasn't going to tell you.

The Danger Shop was set up to look like a long stretch of highway, complete with a fleet of motorcycles and helmets and gloves all set up, waiting for the students to each claim their own. There were some ramps and random obstacles in the middle of the road to drive around (or run over), and about a mile or so down the highway in one direction, there was a "door" set up in the middle of the road, programmed to be made out of sugar glass.

"Today we're going to be breaking things and/or braking on pedals," he said. "Nothing in this simulation will hurt you, and the glass you'll encounter isn't real even in terms of what it's programmed to look like, so feel free to run over or drive straight through whatever you'd like. The simulation will regenerate anything that's destroyed in time for the next person. Or, you can brake - b-r-a-k-e, I mean - if that's what you'd prefer. Up to you."

He gave a quick explanation of how to ride a motorcycle, but kept it short and to-the-point. Then, grinning a little, he said, "Go for it," and waved an arm out in the direction of the bikes.
