Today Oz's class found themselves on a ship. A pirate ship to be more exact. Apparently Oz was running with things today. Of course given the size of the class the ship had been scaled down until it was more of a pirate boat.

"Ahoy, lads," Oz greeted them. "Back before we had such new fangled contraptions as jetplanes or portals, if ye wanted to cross the seven seas ye had to find yerself a berth on a ship such as this. If ye wanted to actually cross one instead of jest hugging the shore, ye needed to make sure ye had charts, and compasses, and astrolabes and timepieces, lest ye lose your way. But ye also had more dangers, ye might became becalmed if ye didn't have wind in ye sails or worse ye might be attacked by pirates and privateers."

"Of course, today we be the pirates, intent on loot and plunder," Oz gestured to a ship in the distance using a cutlass. He was really running with things today. "But do not be worried ye might be pillaging innocents, that thar ship be filled with some of the most heartless soulless scum of the Earth. Venture capitalists. I also be hear they be kicking puppies in their spare time."

"Now weigh anchor, and give chase."

"Welcome to Georgia," Clint said once he'd ushered everyone through at the Portalocity office. "If you're familiar with the US, we're not in the state of Georgia. This is the country, over in the Caucasus Mountains." In case they'd missed the view in the distance and all. "The Georgian people are very hospitable, honorable, and respectful, and they expect the same treatment from their visitors. Not that I think that's going to be a problem or anything." Clint was growing fond of his students, as usual. "We're going to head into Tbilisi, which is the capital city and one of the few places we're likely to find people who speak English. It's been destroyed and rebuilt a good twenty-something times, so there's plenty for us to do. I've got maps for everyone and I'm just going to let you guys roam free today, but try to at least stick in pairs so you're less likely to get lost."

Billy trudged into the library on time for his shift, but a little later than usual. He'd spent most of the morning sniffling and was currently trying to convince himself that he wasn't getting sick. Reality warping super witches did not get sick, thank you very much.

As the sniffling turned to coughing, Billy was just going to look a little mopey behind the main desk. Stupid body.

Since this was the first meeting of the school year, Zoe had made sure there was plenty of food with which to welcome everyone. There was pizza, some sandwiches, chips, sodas, and a variety of cookies, only some of which were pumpkin flavored. She wasn't sure what the pumpkin thing was all about this time of year, but she'd managed to escape the bakery with normal items too.

"Good afternoon," she said, smiling at everyone once they'd gotten settled in. "Thank you all for volunteering to be on the student council. I certainly appreciate it, and I know the students do too, even if they don't say it. We've got a few things to take care of today. First, we have to pick one of our seniors to be the president of the council, assuming any of you want the job, and then we've got to plan the next thing coming up, which is Parents Weekend in two weeks." Consider that your two week warning to clean your rooms, kids. "So, which one of our seniors wants to speak first?"

"Today we're going to take a brief look at lawyers," Batman said right at the top of class. "I won't stereotype them. Some are greedy. Some are immoral. Some do good work for free. Some do good work for a lot of money. Not all of them lie whenever their lips are moving, as the joke goes. But any lawyer you find should be able to present a compelling argument based on truth or whatever they can come up with to support the evidence they have."

Talky class! )

Class today was set in the danger shop. Because the Ice King had used his mystical arts on the programming until it worked how he wanted.

Meaning Gunter programmed it all.

There was a box in the middle of the room with a stick propping it up. Yes, they were doing the 'trapping' phase of princess stealing. "Bait," the Ice King said firmly. "If you want to catch a foxy lady, you can't just throw anything out there. You need to pick the right bait."

This was sure to work, right?

"I'm using a picture of myself to lure them in because no one can resist this paragon of wizardly beauty."

If you looked closely, it would appear it was indeed a picture of his face taped onto a model's body. "Pick your own bait," he snapped peevishly. "No idea stealing allowed!"

Because you all wanted to use that picture. Really.

Jackson had entirely forgotten about the club thing over the summer. So, yeah, there wasn't going to be any organized lacrosse this fall. Probably for the best since they seemed to have like half of Beacon Hills' team going here now from various world's and it could have gotten messy.

And Jackson also kind of stumbled upon the club fair by accident. But since he was here, he grabbed a copy of the schedule and decided to at least give a cursory glance to what was on offer this time around. Even if he probably wasn't going to sign up for anything. There were better ways of celebrating having managed almost an entire full moon under control. But still.

Club fair.

"Okay, today I'm not going to be talking much," Kaidan said with a brief smile. "It's your turn to take the stage. Look at last week's exercise and present your findings to the class along with your partner."

He cleared his throat. "That'll be the end of introductions," he said. "Next week, we'll really get started."

Then he turned towards the holographic blackboard and wrote,

What do people in your galaxy already know about? What don't they? What's unexplored that shouldn't be?

Then he sat down.
