Today Bond had the Danger Shop set up like the gym, with a number of mats and practice dummies set out.

"Now the thing with trying to blend in, is that sometimes you fail," he began. "Maybe you trip up on the details, maybe someone recognises you, or sometimes you just have plain bad luck. Once that happens you have a couple of options, you can try to talk your way out of things, you can try to exit from the situation, you can start throwing punches and hope for the best, or you could use a combination of these. But today we'll mainly be focusing on the physical confrontation side of things.

"You don't want a drawn out fight," he continued. "You want to put them down hard, fast, and if at all possible without attracting even more attention. Though the last isn't always possible. So this afternoon we're going to be practising some of the more effective ways of taking someone down quickly, you can try them against a dummy or if you feel confident, against a classmate."

"I know what you're thinking," Yakko said. Don't worry, he wasn't suddenly psychic. "You're thinking, 'Yakko? I understand why you'd try to take credit for the Earth, video games, and the entire world of the imagination, but aren't there any other real worlds you'd like to claim as yours for the purposes of your class?'"

"Well, I've only got one thing to say to that: that was a very long and coherent thought. I'm impressed."

"Okay, two things! Let's talk about Mars."

There is only one half-reference to Sparks Nevada. Try not to be too disappointed, Adventurekateers. )

"Okay, last week we talked about not getting caught breaking stupid laws," Electroclash started. Or maybe she should have been called Sarah this week, seeing as she was out of uniform and in civilian clothes. (There was a point to that, by the way.) "But that's far from being the only way you can get into trouble by not knowing how to act in a specific location. It's just a pretty obvious one." Or maybe it wasn't, if you weren't her. But whatever. "This time, we're looking at kind of the same thing but from a different perspective. This time, you're not the twits breaking the law. Other people are."

How to not get mugged like a stupid git! )

Evan hadn't been paranoid, per se, as he walked into the library for his shift. It was just that it had been a while since the books had done something really crazy on his watch, and he wasn't about to let himself get comfortable while there was still a chance of things going crazy on him while he was working.

At least he didn't have to wait long before he noticed what the weirdness of the day was. The books had set up a sort of speedway down the aisles, and all manner of books about car racing were competing to see who was the fastest read.

A very pink book containing tips and tricks for playing the arcade game, Sugar Rush, was definitely giving the rest of the books a run for their money, today.

"Just so long as you guys put yourselves away when you're done," Evan decided, and then settled back to watch the races.

[Open, but flying without OCD because I'm not battling with the goat any more than necessary this morning.]

Today, due to a combination of having been bizarrely unable to sleep last night and the early morning walk-demanding of her three-legged dog, Cliff, April got to class really early with Cliff in tow, and proceeded to spend almost an hour before class just programming the Danger Shop to have carpet and really comfortable chairs.

She was aware that it looked more like a living room than a classroom at this point. But she really wanted to sprawl on a couch like that, so shut up.

"So today we're gonna talk about stuff that doesn't suck to do," April said, scratching behind Cliff's ear. "It's different for everyone, 'cause some people really want to help sick people or whatever and other people would rather jump off a bridge than spend a million years in doctor school, and stuff like that. This isn't just gonna be, like, boring jobs that don't take too much effort. I'm talking, like, stuff you actually like."

April drummed her fingers on her dog's head for a moment before continuing, without any change in tone, "So when I was a kid I wanted to be like the American version of those guards they have outside that British castle." Could you picture it? Could you? "Or just be one of the British ones. 'Cause I really like glaring at people and I wouldn't have to change my facial expression for hours and I could watch tourists be idiots. But they weren't hiring."

She patted the couch she was sprawled on and Cliff hopped up to sit next to her and lick her face. Seriously, this class was so unprofessional it was ridiculous.

"Anyway, let's talk about what you guys would want to do if you could do anything. Yes, you have to pick something, and if you don't have any job in mind, at least say some stuff you like so we can give you suggestions."

She paused, then added, "Oh, and there's no class next week for Thankgiving, but the week after that we're doing show and tell bullshit. So bring in something important to you or whatever."

Yes, she'd just come up with that. It was easier to say it than write it in an email. So.

As the students filed in to the classroom, they'd probably notice the list posted on the doorway. And if they didn't, well.

"Greetings, class! As you may have noticed, I have selected the roles you will each play in our production. Please obtain a copy of the script," he gestured to the large pile stacked in the centre of the circle, "and begin to familiarize yourself with it. As I understand it, there will also need to be some 'sets' designed, and so I am taking volunteers for that! Mr. Starsmore at the Boards has handwavily agreed to open up his place of business for us to use should we need it, and so feel free to take advantage of his generosity!"

[ooc: preplay is ready to go here.]
