When the students arrived at the Danger Shop today, they'd find themselves in the back of a darkened auditorium, staring up at a stage absolutely filled with musical instruments and set pieces and costumes and microphones and juggling balls and tightropes and anything else that a pony might think of that someone might use to show off their skills.

It was a really big stage.

Once they'd all gathered and grabbed seats, a spotlight struck the curtain, and Pinkie poked her head out. "Oh! Hello there!" She strode out and took center stage, wrapping a front hoof around a microphone stand. "You're a wonderful crowd here, tonight! Where y'all from?" She pointed the microphone at the audience for a moment, then pulled it back. "Wow, that's great! I used to have an ant farm, but I had to get rid of it! Because I couldn't find tractors that small!"

A rimshot sounded from off stage.

"Get it? Tractors that small?" They got it, Pinkie. Move on. "The other day, I spilled spot remover on my dog! And now I can't find him!" This time, the rimshot was clearly being played on a drum set on the side of the stage by Pinkie herself. She grinned knowingly at the students and held for applause.

Then she dumped a sack of flour over her own head.

"Thank you! Thank you! I'll be here all week!" She threw her hooves in the air as if welcoming accolades, then settled back down. "And more importantly, so will all of you! This week is your chance to show off your very special talents, so get up here and give us your best!"

[ooc: no really, that's an actual Pinkie Pie stand up routine.]

Anakin leaned against his desk at the front of the classroom. "This our last class before final exams, and so I want to introduce one final school of ethics: liberalism." He paused, frowning lightly. "And not in the Fox News sense, where everything they do is evil and possibly related to communism. Or Islam. I don't understand." Despite many years on this planet, there were still some facets of life in America that eluded him.

"Anyway, according to many modern liberals," he continued, "moral obligations can arise in only two ways. First there are universal duties that we owe to every being, like the duty to avoid harming people unnecessarily. Secondly, there are voluntary obligations that we acquire by consent, as when we agree to help someone or promise to be faithful to our partners and friends. According to many modern liberals, there are no other types of moral obligation."

He began pacing between the desks. "Critics of liberalism disagree. They say there is a third type of moral obligation that is neither universal nor voluntary: we can be morally obligated to a particular community even though we haven’t assumed the obligation voluntarily. Obligations of membership and loyalty can arise from shared identities, communities, and traditions: because we’re someone’s son or daughter, someone’s friend, a member of a particular community, or a citizen of a particular country or planet. The Jedi Order in my time worried about such obligations and how they might affect our Order's larger mission to provide justice to the galaxy without prejudice, so those who were trained as Jedi were removed from their family and homeworlds as soon as possible, often as infants or toddlers."

He waved a hand, looking slightly embarrassed. "But that was just one solution. Who do you think is right--the liberals who only see two obligations, or their critics?"

As soon as her students settled into the classroom, Summer smiled and began. "I thought today would be a good day for a short film, touching on a few of the topics we touched upon throughout this class."

She hopped off the desk and hit a button to bring up the DVD menu.

"Feel free to take notes, if you'd like. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them for you."

[Movie day brought to you by my being super busy at work. :( OCD is up.]

Electroclash was slouching behind her desk like a teenager today. So, not much had changed over the course, then.

"All right, kiddies, next week is your final," she rasped once the students had filed in. Or most of them, anyway. Possibly. Had she mentioned she didn't really care? "Which mostly means I am a week away from being allowed to get the fuck off this little rinky dink island."

(DUN DUN DUN.)

"It also means it's time to revise the course or something like that. Now, the SPA expects me to have been a good little teacher and gone through all their previous shit to compile some kind of a revision class for you." A beat. "I haven't. I know, you're so surprised." Much like they probably were oh so surprised by the sarcasm present there. "So, instead, you're going to ask questions about being a superhero, or just talk about what you think you may have learned under my wonderful guidance, and either your fellow studious twerps will offer up theories, or I'll tell you how it is in my view. Everyone in favour of this plan?"

She didn't actually let anyone answer.

"Good, 'cause this'll all be on your final next week." No it wouldn't. "You, in the front row. Begin."

Kenzi was hanging out and playing Angry Birds while waiting for Anna. Also looking up drink recipes for Caritas tonight. Also listening to Pandora.

Computers. You didn't need to be a genius to have fun with them.

[for the one mentioned, but clearly, open]
