When William arrived at the library today, he set a pot of tea boiling, and then, in case anyone decided to come by the library today, started a pot of coffee as well. That done, he got down to the real business of the day: trying to find out what was going on with all the disappearances he'd heard about.

"So there's been some... strange things going on here lately," Alistair attempted. He'd heard nothing of the kind from home, but then home was a bit busy with all the darkspawn and everything... "So we thought we'd focus on something that might help you all if we find ourselves in another crisis. Medicine! Heaaaaaling people."

"You are so incredibly strange sometimes that I don't know where to begin," Morrigan said, pinching the bridge of her nose. "In most of Thedas, healing is the realm of mages and the Circle, which can make it difficult to access for the average villager. Sometimes the local Chantry will have a Sister or a Brother that has learned some herblore, but it's more likely there's a family somewhere nearby where the matriarch is a midwife - and occasionally gets accused of witchcraft."

"Brewing a healing potion isn't a crime," Alistair retorted. "Not that I don't think the Chantry goes just a little overboard in its pursuit of witches, especially if someone has a wart and happens to live in a shack and might have looked at someone oddly once. But in Denerim, you don't have to go that far to get a potion or two."

"'Tis true, herbalism is not illegal, but the Chantry is not especially tolerant of those who live in shacks and look at people oddly," Morrigan agreed cheerfully. "'Tis good to hear that in cities the potions are easier to come by, but that serves to highlight the disconnect between the rural areas and their more monied cousins."

"Many of you are from realms without magic. How, then, does your healing happen?"

"Herbs or poultices or something?" Alistair piped in. Not that he knew a lot about medicine. "A bandage is a bandage either way - but if it's not, tell us."

Steve looked...concerned when the students arrived today. Between the extremely worrisome message from Tony on Saturday and the fact that he couldn't get in touch with Bucky...of course, in the latter case, it was possible he was in outer space or had dropped his phone off a glacier or had it destroyed by a robot or something, so he refused to panic just yet. But the Tony situation was definitely cause for panic and might have had him shooting looks toward his TA periodically if he was there just to make sure he was still there.

"Okay," he said, "The supplies still haven't arrived, and I haven't had time--" or the inclination "--to come up with an alternate activity, I'm sorry, so this week you can work on a previous project if you'd like to, or a new project in one of the mediums and styles we've explored this semester. So...get to work on that." Real inspirational there, Steve. "And once again I would like to remind everyone not to do anything stupid in these uncertain times." Tony. "And Mr. Stark, please see me after class."

Tyrion goggled at the students as he came into the classroom. He'd half expected most of them to have been either eaten by the great unknown or decamped to help out at home, if they had homes. He would have decamped to see what he could do at home, if the Causeway hadn't refused to route him anywhere but the parking lot of some horrible place called a Walmart.

"You're all here," he said, curiously, then righted his posture as he made something up out of the whole cloth. "Of course you are. Well. We have a game today. Those of you sitting on the right side of the classroom, you each have a small bag of gold. Those of you sitting on the left, you need that gold to finance some important personal business. Pair off, and use whatever means you have at your disposal to get the gold from each other."

As an afterthought he added, "Or sit about and strategize about what's going on at home, if you'd rather. I wouldn't blame you."

Today when the students entered the Dangershop they'd see that it had been transformed into a laudromaut.

Of course it wasn't just any laundromaut. It was one full of zombies that were currently frozen in place.

Laundry day! )

[And a big thanks to [livejournal.com profile] willbethenight for the laundry idea]
