Creative Arts, Monday Period 2

Steve looked...concerned when the students arrived today. Between the extremely worrisome message from Tony on Saturday and the fact that he couldn't get in touch with Bucky...of course, in the latter case, it was possible he was in outer space or had dropped his phone off a glacier or had it destroyed by a robot or something, so he refused to panic just yet. But the Tony situation was definitely cause for panic and might have had him shooting looks toward his TA periodically if he was there just to make sure he was still there.

"Okay," he said, "The supplies still haven't arrived, and I haven't had time--" or the inclination "--to come up with an alternate activity, I'm sorry, so this week you can work on a previous project if you'd like to, or a new project in one of the mediums and styles we've explored this semester. So...get to work on that." Real inspirational there, Steve. "And once again I would like to remind everyone not to do anything stupid in these uncertain times." Tony. "And Mr. Stark, please see me after class."

Even Rapunzel could sense the somber mood that seemed to be permeating the island. And she couldn't seem to summon up her usual enthusiasm for anything and everything art-related.

So she found herself sitting, trying not to be in anyone's way. Just... watching, and trying not to look too worried. She didn't want to burden anyone when there were clearly such huge things going on.

After the phone call (http://its-theclimb.livejournal.com/5633.html) she'd made earlier and all its implications, Miley... was maybe just going to try not to cry.

And fail. There were some definite waterworks going on.

"Hey," Scully said quietly. Holding out a tissue. She didn't ask if Miley was okay, because she so clearly wasn't. "Here."

"Thanks," Miley said, and sniffled into it.

Classily. Really.

Scully looked on in helpless sympathy, then said quietly, "If you need to talk, I'll be around."

Okay, there were certain things even Freddie couldn't be oblivious to, and one of those things was crying girls.

"Hey," he said, his best sympathetic expression on his face. He didn't say anything else, not yet, because he wasn't entirely sure what else to say.

Miley looked up. Almost up. Not quite to his eyes, but, you know. "Hey," she said quietly.

"You know, I've been really scared about all this, too," Freddie said, just deciding to go the honest route. "I keep worrying and worrying, and... yeah. I guess I just wanted to say you're not alone in this."

"Thanks," Miley sniffled, with the kind of dignity that came from years of sometimes crying on the curb while dressed as a pop star and needing to know how to look good for candid shots. "Do you have people at home missing too?"

"Gibby," Freddie said with a nod. "And Nevel Papperman, but he kinda deserved it. Those are the ones we know, at least."

Freddie shuddered. "It's really scary, thinking something's so big that even a place as totally normal as home can be affecting it."

Quinn was sketching. Kinda. Really it was more like doodling.

Billy didn't feel much like making art when there were so many people who were upset around him. He ended up doodling a little, but it was mostly just freeform squiggles.

It was a testament to how much caffeine the human body could take that Tony didn't fall asleep at his desk. Even it it did look all kinds of comfortable...

Because he was still Tony Stark, sleep deprivation or no sleep deprivation, he had to give Steve a disappointed look for the damage being done to that poor, innocent phone.

Feel the power of his disapproval, Steve.

"From--" Tony made a face and shrugged like it was no thang. "--old me."

HE WAS SO OLD.

He had facial hair. And was a dick.

"It was pretty much what I was doing with my equipment back home," Tony replied. "Which isn't weird at all. But all it did was show us how fast his world is just ceasing to exist."

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm looking into it," Tony said, rubbing his eyes. "But nothing about it makes sense. There's no logic to it, no math to back up what goes and what stays..."

It was as though he didn't need caffeine!

...except that he did. So, a coffee run was going to happen as soon as he left.

"I'll let you know if I come up with something."
