Today, along with the usual setup of baking paraphernalia and cupcake trays, there were a couple of racks of clothing up at the front of the classroom. Anders waited until everyone was assembled before he clapped his hands, pushed away from the counter he’d been leaning against, and began to speak.

“Cupcakes are serious business, we got that part down,” he began, pacing back and forth in front of the clothing racks. “We mostly care about the baking part in this class, but sometimes you gotta think about the right kind of gear for the job. Sometimes wearing a uniform just . . .” He waved both hands vaguely. “Gets you in a real gametime sort of headspace.”

Sports nerd.

“‘course, what kind of outfit makes for good baking gear is a personal call.” They didn’t have the budget for uniforms; if he’d had his way after the idea had come up, he’d have gone with numbered jerseys with students’ names and everything. Again: sports nerd. Anders, unphased by or maybe just unaware of his own self-deprecating narrative, shrugged. “Just . . . I’ve seen someone on the Food Network wearing a poodle skirt, and . . . yeah. Anyway, you guys can take a few minutes to poke around the fully moddable racks here and pick out a good cupcake-baking outfit for yourselves. After that, hit the mixers and go to town.”

The jungle scene found in the Danger Shop when the children entered it today was slightly different than last week, though still with a nice little classroom clearing and their instructor beaming and happy to get going on class.

"Good morning!" Jane greeted them. "And welcome to Central America! We've hopped on over to a different area of the world to learn all about our first primate. Since it was one of the few specific monkeys mentioned last week, I decide it might be a good idea to--"

And she was suddenly interrupted by a low, loud throaty sound.

"Oh, goodness!" said Jane with a surprised laugh. "What I was saying was, I thought it might be fun if we went ahead and took a look at some h--"

And again, Jane was promptly interrupted and it went on for quite a bit. She didn't seem bothered; in fact, she was grinning quite a bit. "Howler monkeys," she finally said. "Let's get to learning about them before they drown me out again!"

HOWL )

"And, if there are no further question, then, let us get ourselves some hat and some packs and veture out to have a look at these--" Naturally, she was interrupted again, "--monkeys."

Alexander had considered bringing his puppy-fied roommate with him to the library today, but, for the most part, decided against it. He knew William would be well-behaved no matter where he was, so it seemed best that he should just relax in the room and perhaps Alexander would pick him up a chew toy before heading back, just in case any certain animal tendencies decided to exhibit itself on shoes or belts or other chewable items in the room. Besides, should the change be so temporary that William turned back today, he would be in the privacy of his room, since he'd lost his clothing when he transformed and was not likely to have them again when he returned to his normal state.

The cat statue, however, was still with him, on the desk as Alexander sorted through the book returns to go back on the shelves. He was decidedly starting to feel silly about the whole thing and suspected that if he felt the same way tomorrow, he would simply take a hammer to it and be done with it once and for all.

The Library is open!

Today, when Oz told his students to meet him at the Danger Shop, there wasn't a wild goose-chase over half the island to follow, instead he numbered them off as they entered.

"Hey, kids, good to see you all back again. Sadly, there's no explosives in today's class." Didn't they all feel sad about that? "But I do want us all to give a big warm round of applause to my new assistant Topher, please direct all future complaints about course content to him."

"Now much as I believe in the power of incendiary devices to bring people together, if you can't get the necessary permits, there's also the good old fashioned road-trip. Just a small group and the open road, it's a perfect recipe for bonding." Or causing the party to fracture under the pressure resulting psychotic breaks, murder and cannibalism, but, hey, Oz was an optimist. He hit a switch, revealing a wide prairie vista and several covered wagons, each with a number emblazoned on the side. "And we all know that there's no greater road-trip in American history than the Oregon Trail."

"I want to all to divide up into groups according to the number you got at the start of class, you all have different resources, and I want you to discuss in your group how you might use those resources, and any skills you might have, to before setting out. Try not to die of dysentery along the way, and since none of you are still ponies, no hitching each other to the wagons."

"Welcome back to our completely normal classroom," Deadpool said cheerfully once everyone had arrived. "I even got us one of those dumb 'hang in there, kitt!y' motivational posters. Mostly because they were fresh out of the 'picture of an eagle with some bullshit inspirational word beneath it like soar or some other crap' posters."

Which was sad.

"But enough about my decorating plans!" he said, waving dismissively. "Today..."

Deadpool stopped, tapped his foot impatiently, and watched the clock.

"..we're discussing.dramatic pauses. And how it can make you sound cool and dramatic, but usually just like a douche who makes bad jokes while putting on sunglasses."

Boooo, no one liked you, Miami!

"So, I wanna see you kids pair off and try to work a nice little ellipsis into your conversations. And no William Shatner impressions!"
