Talking Is A Free Action 14/7 - Thursday

"Welcome back to our completely normal classroom," Deadpool said cheerfully once everyone had arrived. "I even got us one of those dumb 'hang in there, kitt!y' motivational posters. Mostly because they were fresh out of the 'picture of an eagle with some bullshit inspirational word beneath it like soar or some other crap' posters."

Which was sad.

"But enough about my decorating plans!" he said, waving dismissively. "Today..."

Deadpool stopped, tapped his foot impatiently, and watched the clock.

"..we're discussing.dramatic pauses. And how it can make you sound cool and dramatic, but usually just like a douche who makes bad jokes while putting on sunglasses."

Boooo, no one liked you, Miami!

"So, I wanna see you kids pair off and try to work a nice little ellipsis into your conversations. And no William Shatner impressions!"

Alexander...didn't even know who William Shatner was. But...he felt he might have a pretty decent grasp on dramatic...pauses.

Or at the very least...er...um...awkward ones.

Nathan wasn't really one to pause for dramatic effect. He liked getting all of his shit out there for the world to see and hear. They deserved to be graced with his thoughts.

A dramatic pause was almost the same as glaring and not talking at all, and Cara was doing that just fine.

Quinn glared back at her. Not because she had anything against Cara, but just because she wanted to see who would break eye contact first.

Then they'd get down to the talking-with-pauses thing.

Quinn... didn't really want to know how Mord'Sith got taught patience, but suffice it to say, Cara could quite comfortably go without breaking eye contact all day if she needed to.

Quinn kept it up for a long moment, but eventually brought a hand to one eye to rub at it. "My contact is killing me," she lied whined.

The truth was, Cara's glare was starting to make her feel like a bug. Not the cute kind.

Alexander didn't think he'd have too much of a...problem with holding a good conversation with dramatic...pauses, so he looked around curiously for someone who might be willing to...pair up.

"... This can't be good."

That wasn't Jack pretending to have a dramatic pause. That's just Jack commenting on the class.

Which just happened to have a dramatic pause. It was completely unintentional on his part.

"What..." Watch as Alexander was far too aware of placing a dramatic pause in there, looking at Jack with an expression of true skepticism, "makes you say that?"

Nathan was pretty sure he'd fail this assignment because he wasn't a dramatic pause kind of guy. He was an excitable, loud, obnoxious guy that wanted attention and wanted it right now. Dramatic pauses meant waiting and that was boring.

He was there anyway, waiting for a partner.

Hey, look! The perfect partner!

"Dramatic pauses are SOOOOOO lame!" Hank protested. "I mean, can you get any more cliche?" He sighed in frustration. "I mean, it's like, YES, we're caught in a death trap, and YES, whatever is gonna happen when you throw that lever is gonna be so much worse, but could you hurry it UP already?" Hank was, it should be noted, well-acquainted with the sort of people who were fond of dramatic pauses. "And you know what's even worse than that? The guys who SAY 'dun-dun-DUN!' Because that's just so classy, right there. I mean, really!"

"Wow, you say a lot," Nathan said, blinking. Obviously Hank was his verbal vomit soulmate or something. "And I wasn't paying attention to any of it."

Dave could pause dramatically. Usually while making an incredulous face. He was ready for this.

"So... Is the next class about pausing for comedic effect?" Jack asked jokingly, "Because I thnk I've got that one down pat."

Embrace eternity the epic:

Yes.... yes, that is Shatner collaborating on a track with Henry Rollins.

One of the saddest things I've ever seen? William Shatner trying to do a William Shatner impression. ...And failing. Miserably.
