doubleohblonde: (Bond is in the room)

Once again, Bond had the class meet him in an ordinary classroom.

"One important and overlooked survival skill, is back-up. That is making sure that people know were you're going, how long you're expected to be away, and preferably some way of settting up contact if you're going to be in dangerous conditions that might take a turn for the worse when you leat expect it," he explained. Not that he'd ever go off the book. Really he wouldn't. "To demonstrate, we'll be be watching film about just that happening."

There were no blackboards in the jungle clearing classroom today. Sadness! But there was a Miss Porter, giving a smile to the students as they came in to their desks.

"Don't get too comfortable," she warned them kindly. "Today is our very last day, and, while we have only barely skimmed the top of the cream of preparation for jungle explorations, I have hopefully helped to equip you with new skills and reinforce some of the ones you may have already had in your arsenal. Today, we will take everything we've learned in our previous classes on a long expedition through the jungle one last time for this semester. I expect you to be able to protect yourself from dangerous animals and plants as you find a good spot to set up a shelter, start a fire, and find yourself some potable water. Procure some edible food, and, most importantly, have fun! I'd like each of these skills to be exhibited, but then you may spend the rest of the time exploring the jungle at your leisure. Feel free to work together, as well. I've peppered the Danger Shop with all sorts of wondrous things, to the full capacity of all the beauty this place can possess, so I hope you find them all and may take that experience with you.

"You've been a wonderful class, and I do hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have. If there aren't any last questions or comments, then, let us don our hats and begin the adventure!"

Today, Reno's students had been handwavily informed to meet at the main campfire, and to wear clothes they didn't mind running around the woods in. Specifically, ones they didn't mind ruining.

Why?

They'd probably figure it out for themselves when they saw the heap of paintball guns, ammo, and safety gear. And it would probably become abundantly clear when they saw that Reno had taken it a step beyond, and had filled several large buckets with water balloons. Which were also filled with paint.

"Yo, Rookies!" Reno himself was decked out in a suit that had clearly been on the receiving end of a few such water balloons in the past. He'd been on the island long enough, he was getting to be an old paintball veteran. "Today's final is gonna be whatever you make of it, yo. I got paintball equipment here, enough for all of you, and I went and marked off a chunk of the preserve for you guys to run around in. In the woods? Gift certificates for Pizza Planet an' Chilly Boulder. Enough for each of you to have one. Your mission if you choose to accept it is to get in there an' raise hell until you find one of each. When you're done that, you're dismissed. Bring your paintball crap back here an' go enjoy your large pizza an' sundae, yo."

What this had to do with attitude, the world might never know.

But it seemed like it would be fun. Or amusing. Or both. And so Reno was totally game.

[OCD up, and class is in session!]

"Since this is our last class together," Anakin said, standing before the students on the causeway, "I've made your tasks a little more difficult today."

Anyone else have a bad feeling about that? Good. "Read your clues carefully, follow the directions of the locals--as much as you can understand them if you aren't fluent in what seems to be ancient Greek--and try not to die." With that he stepped back from the clue box.

Today, Rinoa found herself partway through a book -- You Are Not Playing a Game -- when she hit something she point-blank didn't understand. Naturally, that meant she had to put the book down and do some investigating.

Alternate ... reality game? She had no idea what that phrase was supposed to mean.

Anyone who came into the library was going to deal with Rinoa, hunched over one of the library's computers, doing some internet research into the very bizarre phenomenon. Trailheads? Puppetmasters? She was so lost.
